October is National Dental Hygiene Month, and we're celebrating Marine Scholar Illyanna, a Career and Technical Education (CTE) recipient who aspires to become a dental hygienist! As a student at Coastal Carolina's Dental Assisting Program, Illyanna is building the technical skills and hands-on experience needed to make a difference for dental patients in her community as a future dental professional.

The child of veteran Corporal Thomas E. Bulgia USMC, Illyanna says her father's service inspired both her work ethic and her desire to pursue a career focused on helping others. "My dad's service has inspired me to choose a career where I can help people every day, and I hope to make a positive difference in my community as a dental professional, just as he has through his service to our country," said Marine Scholar Illyanna.

For the past three years, Eddie Draves has dedicated his time and talents to supporting the Sergeants Davis & Dougherty Memorial Shoot, helping create opportunities for Marine families through education.

Eddie was first introduced to MCSF by his mentor, Marc Hembrough, a longtime supporter and champion of the Scholarship Foundation's mission for nearly two decades. After attending his first Sgts Davis & Dougherty Memorial Shoot event in 2023 with Marc, Eddie said he knew immediately that he wanted to get more involved with the Scholarship Foundation.

Although Eddie does not have a direct military connection, he believes strongly in supporting those who have served and the families who stand beside them. As a father, he says one of the best ways to honor Marines is by helping create opportunities for their children.

Thank you, Eddie, for your continued dedication to Marine families and your commitment to our mission!

Thank you to the golfers, volunteers, and sponsors who attended this year's 28th Annual Jersey Shore Golf Tournament at Deal Country Club, which raised more than $95,000 in support of Marine Scholars from the state of New Jersey and beyond!

We hosted Marine Scholar Paulina Tepan, a double major in Finance and AI in Business at the University of Pennsylvania, whose remarks highlighted the life-changing impact of MCSF scholarship support. We were joined by Marines from Combat Logistics Battalion 25, 4th Marine Logistics Group at the Marine Corps Forces Reserve in Red Bank, New Jersey, to foster connections between those serving today and the Marine families we serve through our mission.

The Scholarship Foundation thanks Jersey Shore Golf committee leaders Bob Valvano and Brian O'Leary, whose longtime dedication has helped to preserve and strengthen our commitment to Honoring Marines by Educating their Children!

We're kicking off our Marine Scholar Day in the Life series with Marine Scholar Nathanio Scott, who is pursuing a degree in economics at Northwestern University

As one of our Marine Scholar Ambassadors, Nathanio stays active on campus and participates in musical theatre, Northwestern's business club, and serves as the Director of Development on the Executive Board of The Dolphin Show, the largest student-produced musical in the country.

"This scholarship allows me to attend a top business institution with little to no student debt, which is a beyond incredible opportunity," says Nathanio.

Happy National Golf Lovers Day! Few things are better than spending your weekend at one of the world's most iconic golf courses, especially in support of our Nation’s military families. LtCol Rob Riggle USMC (Ret.) served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps before becoming an actor – he is also an advocate for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and the families we serve.

Rob will join the Scholarship Foundation for the 16th Annual Patriots at Pebble: Marines Hit the Beach Golf Tournament on February 27 - March 1 at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill! This special weekend honors the service of Marine families by helping provide life-changing educational opportunities for our Marine Scholars nationwide.

From Pittsburgh roots to basketball greatness. Last month's Steel City Awards Dinner featured a Q&A chat between Semper Fidelis Honoree Coach John Calipari and Pittsburgh's own Larry Richert, host of the 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA Morning show.

Together, they reflected on Coach Calipari's connection to the Steel City, his remarkable coaching career, the changing landscape of college basketball, and the leadership principles that have guided his success.

Attention parents and AY 26-27 Marine Scholars: You have ONE MONTH until you must complete your award acceptance documents before Sunday, November 1st at 11:59 p.m. EST!

Complete your acceptance on the MyAward portal now so we can get your scholarship check sent to your school. If you do not submit by the deadline, you may be at risk of have your scholarship award amount reduced.

The Scholarship Foundation thanks to everyone who joined us for this past weekend's 11th Annual Sergeants Davis & Dougherty Memorial Shoot in Coplay, Pennsylvania! Hosted in partnership with the 1/5 Vietnam Veterans Association, this event honors the service and sacrifice of Sergeant Rodney M. Davis USMC, Medal of Honor recipient, and Sergeant James Dougherty USMC, Silver Star recipient and four-time Purple Heart recipient. More than a sporting clays event, the Memorial Shoot has served as a lasting tribute to their legacy while helping create educational opportunities for the children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen.

Special thanks to committee chairs Zack Buckon, Eddie Draves, and Don Wildauer for their leadership and dedication to making this event possible year after year. We are grateful to the 1/5 Vietnam Veterans Association, our volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for helping preserve the memory of these fallen heroes and Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children.

On Wednesday, the Scholarship Foundation was honored to join a distinguished group of supporters at Oakland Hills Country Club in Troy, Michigan, for a special day of golf and fellowship hosted by Matt Carroll, CEO of Pratt Miller Engineering. The event brought together Marine Corps veterans, Foundation investors, scholarship alumni, and friends of MCSF for an opportunity to connect around our shared commitment to supporting Marine families through education.

We were grateful to host General Robert B. Neller USMC (Ret.), 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps and Chairman Emeritus of the Scholarship Foundation as our Military Guest of Honor as well as Marine Scholar alumnus Jake Lane, now a Senior Software Engineer at Caterpillar Inc., as our student speaker whose story reflects the lasting impact of scholarship support from MCSF.

Thank you to Matt Carroll, Greg Sandler, Jim Squatrito, and the team at Oakland Hills Country Club for their hospitality, and all who joined us for helping strengthen the community of supporters who make our mission possible!

Recently, Marine Scholar Grace joined WWAY TV News Channel 3 to share how support from the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is helping her pursue her educational goals. A respiratory therapy student at UNC Wilmington, Grace spoke about the impact her scholarship from MCSF has had on her path toward a career dedicated to helping others.
