What an incredible evening in our Nation's capital! On Saturday, the Scholarship Foundation celebrated our 39th annual National Capital Area Campaign Celebratory Gala at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C., where we proudly raised over $800K in support of our mission to Honor Marines by Educating Their Children.
We were pleased to present the Semper Fidelis award to Greg Shumaker, Managing Partner of Jones Day, for his leadership and commitment to supporting Marine families like his own. In a record-breaking attendance, we were also privileged to host many distinguished members of the military community, including our Military Guest of Honor, General Eric M. Smith USMC, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Medal of Honor Recipient Colonel Harvey C. "Barney" Barnum Jr. USMC (Ret.), and countless other active-duty, veteran, and retired military officers. Thank you to our scholarship recipient speaker Kieron Kane, a physics major at the University of Michigan, for sharing his story and representing the impact of our mission.
The Scholarship Foundation is grateful to all our investors, speakers, committee members, and guests who made the evening so memorable!
