What an incredible evening in our Nation's capital! On Saturday, the Scholarship Foundation celebrated our 39th annual National Capital Area Campaign Celebratory Gala at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C., where we proudly raised over $800K in support of our mission to Honor Marines by Educating Their Children.

We were pleased to present the Semper Fidelis award to Greg Shumaker, Managing Partner of Jones Day, for his leadership and commitment to supporting Marine families like his own. In a record-breaking attendance, we were also privileged to host many distinguished members of the military community, including our Military Guest of Honor, General Eric M. Smith USMC, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Medal of Honor Recipient Colonel Harvey C. "Barney" Barnum Jr. USMC (Ret.), and countless other active-duty, veteran, and retired military officers. Thank you to our scholarship recipient speaker Kieron Kane, a physics major at the University of Michigan, for sharing his story and representing the impact of our mission.

The Scholarship Foundation is grateful to all our investors, speakers, committee members, and guests who made the evening so memorable!

The Scholarship Foundation is proud to announce a record-breaking $12,635,000 in scholarships awarded to 2,906 Marine Scholars for the 2026–2027 academic year—our largest award year yet!

This milestone would not be possible without the unwavering support of our investors, whose commitment to our mission makes this impact a reality for thousands of children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen. To our supporters: thank you for standing with us in expanding educational opportunities for military families across the Nation.

We are grateful to Marine Scholars Grace, Landon, Morgan, Aidan, Paulina, Daniel R., Washington, and Daniel G. for helping us bring this record-breaking announcement to life!

Congratulations to Marine Scholar Abbigayle on her recent graduation! As a student in the Scholarship Foundation's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program, Abbigayle's degree in nursing will set her up for success to one day become a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). Here, she is pictured with her father, veteran Corporal Russell W. Hickle USMC.

"Without the Scholarship Foundation's support, I would be unable to reach my goal of becoming a registered nurse...I will forever be grateful," said Marine Scholar Abbigayle.

Our CTE application is open year-round! Click here to learn more about eligibility and how to apply: mcsf.org/CTE

The Scholarship Foundation was proud to host the 36th Annual Boston Golf Tournament at Willowbend Country Club! Thank you to all the players, volunteers, and supporters whose participation helped us raise over $60K to support Marine Scholars and their families.

Through his leadership as the Boston Golf event chair and involvement in our annual Davio's Wine Dinner, nearly $2.5 million has been raised in support of Marine Scholars nationwide. We were also proud to establish the Murphy Family Honorary Scholarship, which will be awarded to scholarship recipients over the next five years. We are grateful to Dick and his family's longstanding support of our mission!
