💙 What a wonderful day at the Military Women’s Memorial!
Today, we had the great pleasure of welcoming members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to the Memorial for a special Adopt A Woman Veteran Day, and what an incredible group!
From the moment they arrived, they brought enthusiasm, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to our mission. Together, we spent the day sharing the story of the Military Women’s Memorial and working to preserve the stories of women who have served our Nation.
Through our Adopt A Woman Veteran project, participants “adopted” women veterans whose stories were not yet represented in the Memorial’s Register. They researched their lives and military service, uncovering details about where they served, what they did, and the experiences that shaped their time in uniform.
But this group went well beyond simply completing a project. They took these women and their stories to heart. They worked diligently to ensure that each veteran they adopted would have a robust and meaningful story of service preserved at her Memorial, a story that will endure for generations to come.
That is what this work is all about. Every name represents a woman. Every woman has a story. And every story we preserve helps ensure that her service remains part of our Nation’s history.
We are tremendously grateful to Zeta Phi Beta for spending the day with us, embracing our mission, and helping us honor military women in such a meaningful and lasting way.
To all who joined us today—thank you. Thank you for your time, your energy, your thoughtful research, and most importantly, for caring about the women whose stories you helped preserve.
Because of you, more women veterans will be remembered. Their service will be known. And their stories will have a permanent home at the Military Women’s Memorial. 💙
