Looking back at these photos, one thing is clear: Zoo Boo has been bringing local families together for generations.

For more than 40 years, kids have filled Alexandria Zoo in costume, made their way along the treat trail, posed for photos, and created memories that become part of their family’s Halloween tradition.

Some of those kids are now the parents bringing the next generation to experience it for themselves. 🧡

That’s what makes Zoo Boo so special—it’s not just an event. It’s a community tradition that keeps growing year after year.

Kim has been a member of the Alexandria Zoo’s Zoo Crew for less than a year and has already made a meaningful impact.

Drawing on her previous skills and experience, Kim has assisted with events and educational programs that help children develop a deeper understanding of animals, their importance, and the zoo’s mission of animal care and conservation.

As the zoo continues to engage and inspire the next generation of wildlife advocates, we look forward to seeing Kim continue to grow and make a difference in this role.

These throwback photos feature just a few of the teen volunteers who have stepped up over the years to help make the day special for thousands of Zoo Boo guests.

Volunteers are an important part of what makes a community event this size possible—and we’re looking for high school and college students to join this year’s Zoo Boo Crew!
