SCARF would like to thank Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Louisiana Healthcare Connections for helping to host an educational support group in Avoyelles Parish.

Due to limited space, we couldn't fit everyone in the room at once, but we will host another support group at the same location in July for those who couldn't attend this meeting.

We had a great time and received awesome feedback about what attendees learned. We would also like to thank our sickle cell warriors, their families, and other community members for coming out in the weather to attend the event.

We are deeply grateful to Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and Humana Better Health for hosting our community support group. The topic of Understanding Sickle Cell was highly informative, providing valuable insights that many were not previously aware of.

We would also like to thank our brave sickle cell warriors and their families for attending the event, as well as the broader community. Our sincere appreciation goes to all of our volunteers and to The Royal Onion for providing a warm and welcoming venue. The food was exceptional, and the staff were very nice; the atmosphere was truly exceptional.

For those who were unable to attend, please note that we have additional support groups scheduled throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing you at the next event.

Our next support group will be held on June 2, 2026, in Bunkie, LA; a flyer will be available soon.

We are truly overwhelmed and in awe of the incredible support shown at today’s Walk-A-Thon! First and foremost, we give honor to God for allowing such an amazing and successful event.

Today, we proudly honored the legacy of Ms. Rosia G. Metoyer. We believe she would have been pleased to see the love, unity, and support on display.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and participants your support made this day unforgettable. A very special thank you to our sickle cell warriors you are the reason we do what we do.

Special shoutouts to Phillip Mullin Jr. (Sickle Cell Warrior) for providing the delicious chicken, Rotel dip, and nachos, and to Jafa Court for the hot dogs, chips, additional donations, and for stepping up to grill. Thank you to DJ Robert for keeping the energy high with great entertainment and to Gabriel Texada for the delicious popcorn.

It was truly inspiring to see families come out and support their loved ones. We were blessed with an abundance of everything, and the love in the atmosphere was unmatched.

Also, a huge THANK YOU to our amazing community partners for their generous in-kind donations!

Walmart Store #75, Walmart Store #3736, Sam’s Club, Super 1 Foods, Pilgrim Baptist Church, and Red River Bank, your support helped make our Walk-A-Thon a success. We truly appreciate you!

Today was nothing short of amazing. Thank you all for making it a success!
