Fostering Love Welcome to Fostering Love! Our Mission: To provide Immediate needs to foster and adoptive families in Douglas County, because you are loved and not forgotten.

Thursday 12-5pm

Please read the following rules before donating:

- We accept clothes in EXCELLENT CONDITION for ages 1 day - 18 yrs old. Please make sure the clothes are clean and smoke free. Please make sure there are no holes, stains, peeling, animal hair or visible wear.

- We accept GENTLY USED toys and games. Please make sure all pieces are included.

- We accept NEW toiletries such as shampoo/conditioner, detangler spray, toothpaste/toothbrush, hairbrush/hair accessories, shaving cream/razors, feminine products, and deodorant.

- We accept NEW sippy cups, pacifiers, diapers, wipes, diaper cream, underwear, socks and shoes.

- We accept NON-EXPIRED car seats and formula. Also gently used bottles with all pieces.

- We accept only NEW stuffed animals with tags.

- We accept GENTLY USED receiving blankets, crib sheets, pack n play sheets and smaller blankets.

- We accept GENTLY USED space saver highchairs, baby swings, bouncers, baby gates, bumbo chairs and boppy pillows with removable covers. All baby equipment needs to be 2014 or newer.

- Larger items to donate can be posted on the page to see if any local foster/adoptive family may want it. Large items include cribs, changing tables, beds, dressers, comforter sets, bikes, outdoor equipment, and strollers.

- We accept NEW duffle bags. We do not take in suitcases or luggage of any kind.

- If in doubt about your donation then send us a message and we would be happy to help!

- If you would like to support our closet financially we are a 501c3 nonprofit and you can write a check out to Fostering Love and mail it to the following address. Fostering Love

His Kids is hosting the Hope for the Journey simulcast on Friday, October 30 at Alexandria Covenant Church!

Presented by Show Hope, this one-day event offers practical tools, resources and encouragement for parents, caregivers, educators, church leaders and anyone caring for children impacted by adoption and foster care.

July 30th, 2026 we made a post asking for a left handed acoustic guitar for a young man in care. This young man isn’t from our county, but his social worker reached out with this request in hopes of finding him a guitar. We want help ALL kids in care, no matter where they are from, so we put out the request post in hopes of finding him a guitar.

Usually we get a reply to a post within a few days. We hadn’t had anyone reach out about a guitar. I didn’t think we would get one and let the social worker know it wasn’t looking favorable.

On August 24th, I got a call, text and private message from a woman saying she had a guitar she would like to donate. She was calling from INDIANAPOLIS INDIANA. My first thought was how on earth did she find us?

Well, Laura had done a Google search to find out where she could donate a left handed guitar and Google connected her with us. Us in Alexandria, Minnesota. What a small world!!!!!

I called her back. We chatted. I thanked her. I shed a few happy tears. We talked logistics on how best to get this guitar to this young man. We devised a plan and she got it in the mail to us. His social worker came and picked it up. And he is now happily strumming on his new guitar.

Thank you Laura for doing a Google search. Thank you for your big heart. Thank you for sharing the love of music with a young man in need. Thank you for being a part of our village.

We are looking for two sleeping bags for two kiddos for their school trip. If you have a sleeping bag or two that you’d be willing to donate, let us know. We will be open Thursday from 12-5 for drop off.
