2024 was quite a year with its ups and downs. In the end we did more than ever and tried a few new directions. Just like in art, we learn and grow by experimenting with new ideas! We gave away about 700 art kits to kids, supplied a few classrooms with extra supplies, and provided 5 grants to well-deserving teachers in our community. All that on top of the convenient cardboard recycling services we provide to the community and numerous businesses across central Minnesota down to the Twin Cities. Thank you to everyone who donates cardboard and support to make this possible! πŸ₯‚ πŸŽ¨πŸŽ‰

So a few months ago we posted our disappointment with some members of the local community. We have tried to solve this issue quietly but it has been unsuccessful. This letter to the editor will be in tomorrows Echo Press. Please reach out to Philip Kraft on Facebook for more information. This matter deserves to be discussed.

To the editor:

My name is Philip Kraft and I helped start Cardboard Cares. We try to put as much free visual art as possible in front of the kids in our area.

In November of 2023 we were the low bidder for the Pope Douglas Solid Waste Management contract to haul their waste materials.

This was going to provide the funding to help us build an art gallery and teaching center for this community. Shortly after starting the contract, we learned there were dangerous chemicals that we were hauling that we were not made aware of when we bid the contract.

We asked for more money to contain the chemicals to prevent environmental damage and Pope Douglas Solid Waste ended our contract.
