One of the hottest items at Halcyon Night was so popular it sold twice, and it is easy to see why. Who doesn’t want to be Headmaster for the day?!

Our winners had the chance to step into Mrs. Joseph’s shoes and serve as Headmaster for the Day. They helped with carpool, led staff morning devotion, made announcements, visited classrooms, declared extra recess, and enjoyed a special lunch of their choosing, all while getting a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to lead ACCA.

What a joy to see our students lead the school. They carried the title well and had a lot of fun while doing it!

Welcome Mr. Terry, 7th Grade Homeroom Teacher and 6-7th Grade Humanities!

As ACCA grows, our Middle School programming is developing as well. Starting in 6th grade, teachers will teach within their fields of expertise, so that students will experience multiple primary classrooms. This year, Mrs. Bolanos will serve as the 6th grade homeroom teacher and the mathematics and sciences teacher for 6th and 7th grade. Mr. Terry will serve as the 7th grade homeroom teacher and the humanities teacher for 6th and 7th grade.

Mr. Richard Terry has previously served at St. Joseph the Just School for Boys in Front Royal, where he taught English, Scripture, Rhetoric, Science and Theatre at various points for grades 7-12. He was promoted to chair of the English department and worked on the school’s behalf in curriculum creation. Mr. Terry is celebrated at St. Joseph’s as a teacher who will play with his students at recess, attend their games and generally serve as a true friend to parents and colleagues alike. He thoughtfully builds relationships with students while pursuing his long term interest in writing. One of his favorite thoughts is “I write for Him who created all things with a Word.” This has remained his goal as a teacher from day one to this point: to show young people how to recognize the Word in words, and helping them to become the best men and women they can be. He is very excited to join the staff at ACCA and help build a sociable, lively, and robust school culture.

A few firsts and BIG moments from around campus lately ✨

JK officially won “Fortnite” with Mr. Dougherty at Halcyon Night and got to build their first REAL FORT “Fort Malcolm” — complete with tools and teamwork. And judging by the smiles on their faces, they had a pretty great time doing it.

Kindergarten used hymnals in chapel for the very first time.

Then, 1st and 3rd grades experienced pizza and donuts at the creek for the first time. 🍕🍩

Our 6th graders also headed off to Indian Lake Camp for an overnight trip full of outdoor adventures, campfires, and memories with friends.

These small “firsts” have a way of turning into big memories.

We loved celebrating and showing our gratitude for our incredible teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week! 🌷

Students delighted their teachers with flowers and heartfelt notes, faculty enjoyed a special Starbucks delivery and catered lunch, everyone had fun with “Dress Like a Teacher” day, and we ended the week with a beautiful Sip & Shop just for our faculty.

We are so grateful for the love, wisdom, patience, and joy our teachers pour into our students all year long. Thank you for all you do to make ACCA so special. You truly are the best thing. ❤️
