Members from the HVFD got together this morning and did a control burn of a uninhabitable structure for a local resident. It helped the resident clean up a little, but it also gave members time to run trucks, equipment, do a little training on pumps and nozzle control. Thank you to the ones that got out early before the heat got to hot. This was performed safely without incident. Its always great to refresh on equipment and learn a few things.

Next Saturday will be here before we know it. Plan to attend the FREE CPR class. It only cost if you would like to purchase a card. Other wise the knowledge and educational part is FREE to anyone and everyone. We cant wait to see yall there.

With it being EMS week, let’s talk about something real. The stress that accompanies the job. We hide behind the dark humor, but it’s so much more deep than that.

When you meet us, don’t say things like, “wow, bet you’ve seen some stuff, what’s the worst call you’ve been on?” Trust me, we haven’t forgotten, every little detail. The oddest stuff triggers our flashbacks. We don’t want to relive a nightmare any more than we already do.

For each one of you in emergency services, I’m here day or night, if you need to talk, or someone to just sit and listen.
