Thanks, Lindsey Goggins for your heart for our children and this great lesson you gave.
Week 38 Grace lesson idea: I had a bag of change and gave each child varying amounts of change all less than 50 cents each with change left over in the bag. We took time to count the money and I told them that I had cookies for sale. I said that the cookies cost 50 cents each and if they wanted a cookie they had to figure out how to buy one. The rules are that they couldn’t pool money together or borrow money from others. And they also couldn’t do anything to earn the money. I told them to think about it while we talked about grace and the scriptures referenced. We talked about how as kids we can be merciful and offer grace to our parents or peers and what both grace and mercy mean. Then I pulled out the bag of cookies and asked if anybody had figured out to purchase one? Nobody figured it out. So I said “did anybody think to just ask me for the money?” And it seemed to really click with them. I explained how God offers grace to us when we simply ask for His help and allow Him to make up the difference. Sometimes that difference is a lot and sometimes it’s a little. I thought it was a pretty cool way to explain it. 😊
