gh the effort of the AdvoCats community outreach programs and services, the needs of these children and families are identified and met through three programs. School principals and counselors at each Aledo ISD campus identify children and families who are in need of assistance and refer them to the Children's Fund Committee for assistance. The Children's Fund works directly with Aledo ISD to provide assistance for students in need. CF evaluates each student's or family's needs on an individual basis, and all information is confidential. The Children's Fund assists in the following areas of need: medical or dental assistance, living expenses, professional counseling, food, school supplies and other school-related expenses, other crisis interventions. The Clothes Closet is a clothing resource run by Aledo Children's AdvoCats. We offer this service to families that are referred to us by Aledo ISD counselors. Qualified families are able to shop and receive clothing from the Clothes Closet free of charge. It is a bargain shopper's paradise, and all proceeds support AdvoCats vital community programs. Angel Project is an AdvoCats program that organizes Christmas gifts for qualified Aledo ISD students and siblings who reside in the same home. Angel Project is a collaborative effort among AdvoCats, Aledo ISD, and the community. School counselors identify students who may benefit from this project. AdvoCats obtains wish lists, assigns community volunteer shoppers to purchase items, and then collects and distributes the gifts.
