Today's groundbreaking ceremony at Alderson Elementary marks the official project kick-off. A $14,419,000 innovative adaptive reuse, renovation, and restoration of the existing Alderson Community Center/former Alderson High is anticipated to open its doors as a state-of-the-art school for Alderson students in the fall of 2024. Many thanks to the WV School Building Authority for dedicating $9,919,000 to the project and to leaders of the Alderson Community Center and the Town of Alderson for partnering with GCS to make the project possible. We appreciate the GEHS JROTC and all who came out this morning to celebrate this momentous occasion!
Side note
It was a wonderful experience being involved In the Alderson Community Center, formally the Alderson Jr/High School. I have been involved in most every aspect of it since day one. It was my pleasure to work at the center and see it grow into a state of the art place where Aldersonians could be proud. As we say goodbye to this building as the Community Center, we welcome the Elementary school students of the future through the doors. Onward and upward.
I will try by best to keep the page updated as I can of the new process of the school and give details as they become available on the ”new” old Community Center.

The AJHS Class of 1980 would like to invite alumni to our "Get Together " on Sunday, July 3rd at the Historic Graham House at Lowell WV. Lois McVey will be catering our meal. Alderson Volunteer Fire Department and EMS held their annual dinner at the center tonight.
Receiving the Officer of the Year award, 2019 were l to r, E. Lee Skaggs, Jr., Charles M. Lobban, Jr., and Brandon Jones, presented by Fire chief Frankie Jones.
Volunteer members and paid members of the EMS squad are pictured in the second picture.
A wonderful evening was had. We are truly thankful for our department!

Greenbrier East Marching Band, so proud both of our eastern county bands could participate in our Alderson Christmas parade. It’s the only time they can visit us and we are so thankful!
The center is filled during this time and we love it!
