Well… this feels a little surreal.

Because of the unbelievable generosity of our donors, Cassie got to head to the horse auction this weekend and bid on these two beauties to join the Upper Canyon Outreach herd. To even be in a position to welcome two new horses into our program is a gift.

These horses will help us continue our work and guide our the Veterans and service members who trust us with their journey.

They do not have names just yet, but as soon as they do, and we learn a little more about who they are, keep an eye out for “Meet the Herd Monday.”

Fin.

We have been sitting in gratitude and awe all day. Cassie is headed to a horse auction after some incredibly generous donors gave us the opportunity to invest in the health and longevity of our herd. Just… wow.

We have so much to share from last night, but for now, simply: thank you. For believing in this work, in these horses, and in the people we serve. We are overwhelmed in the best way.

A moment of gratitude. A bit of a journal entry.

The past week has been something else.
Truthfully, we are a little overwhelmed in the best way by the belief, support, and love people have shown Upper Canyon Outreach.

From Cocktails for a Cause Willie's Distillery, Inc., to welcoming an incredible group of participants into our first Got Your 6 Horsemanship course of 2026 and watching them leave as family, to sitting shoulder to shoulder with Windhorse Equine Learning to bring education, conversation, and light to our community through a showing of Rescued Hearts ... the message feels incredibly clear.

This work was never meant to be done alone.

Together is the only way through it, and we believe in that deeply.

Tonight, we host our annual fundraiser, Riding for Resilience, at the Sacajawea Hotel and somehow, it is sold out.

To everyone who has supported us, supports us now, or will support programs like ours in the future, thank you. You are part of something much bigger than any one of us.

A huge thank you to Bill & Missy Wood for sponsoring Riding for Resilience. The Wood Family has shown up for Upper Canyon Outreach time and time again and quite literally our family. Even with big milestones happening, like celebrating their son’s high school graduation (Congrats, Brayt!), they still somehow find the time and heart to support this mission. Bill and Missy, your generosity never goes unnoticed and we are so incredibly thankful for you.

“We’ll be seein’ ya.”

Our first Got Your 6 Horsemanship course of 2026 has come to an end, and truthfully, it went by far too fast.

This crew was something special, and saying goodbye never gets easier. We are grateful for the courage it took to show up, the way they cared for one another, and the trust and respect built between people and horses over the course of the week.

To those who support this mission, thank you. Because of you, veterans and service members have the opportunity to step away from the noise, lean into honest conversations, build meaningful connections, and leave with a little more perspective than when they arrived.

We’ll be seein’ ya.

Memorial Day isn’t loud for us.

Not a sale. Not a slogan. Not a race to get a message in front of someone.

Just remembrance and gratitude.

This photo is of one of the first generations on this ranch. A Marine of Belleau Wood. A reminder that freedom has always cost someone something.

Today, we are not asking for support.

Only that we pause. To reflect. To remember. To cherish the lives given in service to something greater than self.

May we live in a way worthy of their sacrifice.
