Jaguar Bridges

Jaguar Bridges Jaguar and wildlife monitoring project in Costa Rica. See our main facebook account "Jaguar Bridges" for new posts and what we are up to!

As a keystone predator, jaguar are known to significantly influence the tropical forested and savanna ecosystems. Working in collaboration with Costa Rican researchers on long-term data collection, 80 trail camera monitoring stations and scent lures along trail networks are used to better document jaguar and their potential prey. Our goal is to evaluate differences in presence, relative abundanc

e and distribution of neotropical rainforest felids and prey species, the focus being the jaguar, puma, ocelot, margay, and prey species in 3 Costa Rican rainforests. The project also includes workshops in local communities to better understand the perceptions, attitudes and activities related to jaguar-human interactions in this part of Costa Rica
