FAA approves Angel Fire to take over airport

The Village of Angel Fire is preparing to take over responsibility for Angel Fire Airport from Colfax County after the Federal Aviation Administration approved the transfer of airport sponsorship, according to an Oct. 5 village press release.

The transfer is expected to be finalized in mid-October after the remaining FAA documentation and property transfer are completed. The village council has approved a warranty deed for the transfer, which must also be considered by the Colfax County Commission.

NMPA issues a Call to Action per Decommissioning of non-GPS approaches in New Mexico. Respond by Aug 28 to the FAA's Proposed decommissioning of the ILS approach at Double Eagle II. With expanded GPS Jamming and extra risk of flying at night in the mountains, the impact should be assessed before decommissioning more alternatives to GPS.

NMPA Annual Members meeting today at KLRU, hosted by EAA555, and led by Ken Summers, outgoing President. Congrats to new Officers elected: Jeff Gilkey, President, Mark Campbell, VP, Brad Gabel, Treasurer, and Art Tangen, Secretary. Bill Soules presented on his new book- so fascinating!!! Awesome NMPA and RAF volunteers!

New Mexico Liaison Ron Keller was hoping for 3 volunteers at Rainy Mesa Airstrip, and 10 showed up 🙌

The RAF and NMPA crew built and painted a segmented circle around the windsock, repainted runway end markers, cleared rocks from the surface, and installed a brand new windsock. All wrapped up with a well-earned lunch courtesy of the NMPA.
