One hospice patient spoke of a simple wish: to smell the rain from home again. Her caregivers gathered soil, sprinkled it with water at her bedside and, as the familiar scent filled the air, she smiled and found comfort in memories of the people and places she loved. Moments like this remind us that hospice care is about more than medical support. It’s about creating comfort, connection and peace when they matter most.

Did you know that $5,000 can fund 16 weeks of local produce for 15 families participating in Socorro General Hospital’s First Born Home Visiting program? This program offers free, voluntary home-visiting support services for first-time parents and families in Socorro. Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce a generous $3 million gift from anonymous donors to support the development of a new neurological intensive care unit (neuro ICU) at Presbyterian Hospital. The eight-bed Neuro ICU is a $4.5 million project, scheduled to open by early 2027.

The significant philanthropic investment will help expand access to specialized, critical care for patients experiencing complex and life-threatening neurological conditions. The new neuro ICU will provide a dedicated space to meet the unique needs of patients requiring the highest level of neurological monitoring and treatment. Every hour volunteered and every purchase made in Presbyterian gift shops helps make a lasting difference. For decades, Presbyterian Volunteer Services has had a big hand in supporting a healthier New Mexico, consistently ranking as one of Presbyterian's largest donors.

This year, the Volunteer Services Gift Committee is proud to announce a remarkable commitment to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation — a $400,000 pledge from gift shop proceeds. Every purchase in our gift shops generates direct revenue that is used to fund immediate, high-priority healthcare initiatives. During periods of change, many of our donors feel compelled to support basic needs, so that vulnerable patients don’t fall through the cracks. Here are two ways you can help, if you’re so inclined: 1) You can provide vital support for transportation, lodging and other critical patient needs with a gift of any amount for the patient assistance fund. 2) You can provide fresh produce for patients with chronic disease, such as diabetes, with a gift of just $20/week, or $1,040/year, for the Food Farmacy.
