505 Suzuki Collective We are a collective of Suzuki violin, viola, and cello teachers bringing high-quality music education to Albuquerque.

Rooted in Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy, we foster a nurturing environment for young learners to grow musically thorugh group classes and more!

Once a month, our Coordinator of Parent Sessions, Daven Quelle, hosts a parent gathering during your child’s group class to connect with other parents, share experiences, ask questions, find practice support and resources, and learn from one another along the Suzuki journey.

Join us this Friday for our first Parent Session of the year! Whether you’re brand new to Suzuki or have been a Suzuki parent for many years, come join the conversation. We look forward to hearing what you’ve learned along the way and what questions you’re navigating right now.

We had a wonderful afternoon at our Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) preview class! 🎶 Thank you to all of the families who joined us. We’re so excited to begin our Fall semester next Friday, August 14, and continue making music together.

If you’d like to join us, there’s still time to register! The class is for children ages 0–4 with a parent or guardian and expecting mothers.

The 505 Suzuki Collective is excited to introduce our newest faculty member, Mikel Sakamoto! She’s joining the team to teach the Hilary Hahn violin class this year, and will continue to work with Mad About Music.

Mikel Sakamoto is a Suzuki violin teacher based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Having grown up in the Albuquerque Suzuki community, she is passionate about creating the same positive, supportive environment that helped shape her own musical journey. She loves working with young musicians and helping each child thrive. When she’s not teaching, you’ll likely find her playing in a pit orchestra, coaching and playing volleyball, enjoying musical theater, or spending time with her dogs. She is grateful to be part of the 505 Suzuki Collective and looks forward to growing alongside her students and continuing her own journey within the Suzuki community.

Several of the 505SC faculty and a handful of our students had the immense privilege of working with Edmund Sprunger, Suzuki Teacher Trainer, at UNM last week. Three faculty members took Suzuki Violin Unit 1 (some of us for the second time— it’s always good to get new perspectives!) and several of our students participated in group and master classes. We are so grateful to and Dr. Aaron Jacobs for making this training possible and for including us in the week’s activities. We can’t wait to share all we’ve learned!

Our 2026 Spring Concert is on May 8 at 5:30 pm at the South Broadway Cultural Center and we can’t wait! This is a free, ticketed event. 505SC families should check their email for more information.
