Erin Brockovich has emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of large-scale AI data center expansion, raising concerns about transparency, environmental impacts, and community rights. She has questioned why many of these facilities are approved with so little public awareness, echoing concerns shared by residents across the United States.

As AI data centers rapidly expand, communities are increasingly asking how these projects will affect local water supplies, electricity demand, land use, and long-term environmental sustainability. Many residents say they often learn about major developments only after approval or once construction is already underway.

Supporters argue that data centers bring investment, economic growth, new jobs, and the infrastructure needed to support AI, cloud computing, and other digital services. Critics, however, contend that these benefits can come with significant trade-offs, including noise pollution, increased pressure on utilities, and substantial water and energy consumption that may affect nearby communities.

The conversation has grown beyond technology alone. It now focuses on transparency, accountability, and whether local communities should have a greater role in decisions that could reshape their environment and infrastructure.

As AI continues transforming society, one question remains at the center of the debate: Should communities have greater transparency and a stronger voice before large-scale data centers are approved?
