Beginning in January, we will be hosting a 5k to raise awareness about human trafficking and raising funds to help support the survivors that work with the New Mexico Dream Center. Because we are doing it virtual this year, we are opening registration up nationwide so invite your friends and family throughout the USA! You can run the 5k when you want, where you want, and with whom you want! Every
registrant will get a packet which will include our "Run Against Traffick" shirt, a bib to wear while running, and some information about the New Mexico Dream Center. We will have raffles all January long for our participants so keep an eye on our page for information on how to get entered into the raffle! Run Against Traffick was started by the New Mexico Dream Center of Albuquerque, a non-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to the aftercare and advocacy of formerly trafficked individuals in New Mexico. Our goals are two-fold: increased awareness and the prevention of human trafficking, and helping victims who have survived this trauma heal and find hope for a future by becoming leaders and advocates. Through Spoken For we are actively educating New Mexicans through awareness campaigns, creating compelling dialog about human trafficking, modern day slavery, and how to be part of the solution. These awareness campaigns focus on the University of New Mexico campus, Albuquerque Public School peer initiatives and the Albuquerque tourism and local hospitality industry during the New Mexico State Fair and Balloon Fiesta. New Mexico Dream Center is currently helping victims and working with survivors of human trafficking by partnering with the New Mexico Attorney General's office, the Albuquerque Police Department, and the New Mexico Coalition to End Human Trafficking.
