We represent fire fighters and EMS professionals, promoting health, safety, workers’ rights, and unity to protect those who protect our communities.

The New Mexico Professional Firefighters Association is proud to support the MDA Kids Telethon.

Firefighters have stood with MDA for decades, and we're carrying that tradition forward for kids with muscular dystrophy right here in New Mexico. Every dollar helps send kids to camp and fund research toward real treatments.

The fundraiser closes Monday, October 19 at midnight. If you can give, thank you. If not, sharing this post helps us reach more people.

The New Mexico Professional Fire Fighters Association is proud to endorse Gabe Vasquez.

Gabe Vasquez has " Helped fund Paramedic Training. In December 2025, Vasquez secured $456,181 through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program for the Las Cruces Fire Department to cover tuition and overtime for 15 new paramedics training at Doña Ana Community College. As well as Aerial Firefighting Legislation. Where Vasquez co-led the bipartisan Aerial Firefighting Enhancement Act of 2025, which passed Congress to strengthen the national aerial wildfire suppression fleet and combat year-round wildfire threats".

Teresa L. Fernandez has "Investigation into Toxic Metals in Fire Retardants (August 2026). Leger Fernández and fellow members of Congress requested a U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) investigation into the presence and potential health impacts of hazardous metals like antimony, arsenic, and uranium found in wildfire retardants and local water supplies following major fires.
She has also helped with the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act (May 2022). She voted for and helped pass the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act, which streamlines access to workers' compensation and healthcare benefits for federal firefighters suffering from occupational illnesses and cancer".

Deb Haaland "has emphasized expanding mental health and PTSD support services for firefighters and their families. As well as outlined plans to launch a dedicated Office of Community Safety to ensure firefighters and first responders have the training, equipment, and safe working conditions needed to do their jobs".
