While many enjoy a well-earned day off, fire fighters and EMS professionals across New Mexico remain on duty, ready to answer the call whenever their communities need them.

Today, we recognize not only the strength and achievements of working people, but also the dedicated men and women of the fire service who continue to protect our communities on weekends, holidays, and every day in between.

This week, we’re heading to southeastern New Mexico to recognize our brothers and sisters of Carlsbad IAFF Local 1687! 🚒

Week after week, we’re highlighting the Locals that make the NMPFFA strong and the professional fire fighters who proudly serve communities throughout our state.

The members of Local 1687 are part of that strength—showing up for the Carlsbad community, standing together for their fellow fire fighters, and carrying on the commitment to service that defines our profession.

For 21 years, Kory Russell has dedicated himself to serving the people of Rio Rancho as a fire fighter and medic. Today, fire fighters from across New Mexico have an opportunity to stand behind him. ❤️‍🩹

Kory has spent the last four years battling colon cancer after years of occupational exposure to carcinogens. As he continues treatment, he has now received the difficult news that he will not be able to return to the career and community he has devoted more than two decades to serving.

The NMPFFA stands with Kory and his family during this fight.

A fundraiser has been organized to help provide financial support as Kory focuses on his treatment, his health, and the people who matter most—his family.

We encourage our Locals, members, fire service families, and communities across New Mexico to come together in support of a brother who has given so much in service to others.

21 years of service. Four years of fighting. Now, New Mexico stands with Kory. 🚒❤️

There’s still time to make a difference! Today marks the final day of Fill the Boot, and New Mexico fire fighters are out in our communities collecting donations in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

If you see our IAFF brothers and sisters with boots in hand, stop by, say hello, and consider making a donation. Every contribution—big or small—helps support MDA and the families they serve.

NMPFFA fire fighters were proud to join thousands of our IAFF brothers and sisters in Arlington, Texas, for the 58th IAFF Convention.

When fire fighters from across the country come together, we strengthen the collective voice of our profession. It’s an opportunity to exchange ideas, build relationships, address the issues facing our members, and help shape the future of our union.

We’re proud to have a strong delegation representing New Mexico, standing up for our members, and bringing our experiences and priorities to the national stage.

No matter the Local or the state, we are stronger when we stand together. 💪🚒

The NMPFFA joins the fire service community in mourning the loss of our fallen brother, Randy Lupe.

Our deepest condolences go out to Randy’s family, loved ones, fellow fire service members, and the San Carlos Apache Tribe during this incredibly difficult time.

As members of the fire service, we grieve together when one of our own is lost. We honor Randy’s service, remember his dedication, and stand alongside all those mourning his passing.

New Mexico fire fighters are once again stepping up to Fill the Boot in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association!

For generations, IAFF fire fighters have taken to their communities with boots in hand to help raise critical funds for MDA and the families they serve. It's a tradition built on service, compassion, and the belief that when we come together, we can make a difference far beyond the firehouse.

Keep an eye out for our NMPFFA brothers and sisters collecting throughout New Mexico, and when you see a boot, consider dropping in a donation. Every dollar adds up! ❤️

Nearly 20 NMPFFA fire fighters are in Arlington, Texas for the IAFF 58th Convention, proudly representing New Mexico and the professional fire fighters we serve across our state.

The IAFF Convention brings together union fire fighters and leaders from across the country to help shape the future of our union and address the issues that matter most to our members.

Having a strong NMPFFA presence means New Mexico fire fighters have a voice in those conversations. We're proud of our members for showing up, getting involved, and representing our state and our Locals with strength and solidarity.

🚒 Day 3 | 2026 IAFF 10th District Biennial Conference🚒

As the 2026 IAFF 10th District Biennial Conference comes to a close, the NMPFFA is grateful for the opportunity to represent New Mexico alongside our IAFF brothers and sisters from across the 10th District.

Over the past several days, we've strengthened partnerships, shared ideas, and engaged in meaningful discussions focused on the future of the fire service. The knowledge gained and relationships built throughout this conference will help us continue advocating for New Mexico's professional fire fighters and EMS personnel.

A sincere thank you to the IAFF, the 10th District leadership, the conference organizers, and everyone who helped make this event a success. We return home inspired, energized, and ready to continue serving our members and protecting the communities of New Mexico.
