Can you believe there are exactly 14 days remaining in 2021?

This year has had its challenges and joys through so many transitions.

This community is extremely necessary and continues to grow quickly.

As we grow and transition in a time of necessary physical and mental health awareness, we want you to know that we are still living and balancing through it all, the very best way we can.

Just a few points to highlight for post requests:

-When posting gigs or jobs, we prioritize requests that are clear on level of experience needed, expected compensation (not trades or only based on experience), even if there is a respectable range. Including a link to apply (with further job specific information) or contact (email, contact name, and/or phone number). We don't want to create a bidding war environment in job posts. No trades. No casual posts/feelers. We believe Creatives should be provided fair pay, so that our family and personal needs are taken care of.

-Events that are based on promotion are not approved. We base our judgement on approving a gathering according to what we feel will best support our Coffee + Creatives Community.

-Our request queue is extensive due to members repeatedly not following our approval guidelines. It causes supportive posts to get lost in a sea of promotional posts.

Please refer to our community guidelines for more guidance on post requests as well as how we interact within our FB community.

Thank you for your patience and grace as we catch up with post requests. We are constantly working on our position and how best to serve this Creative Community.

One last note:
We see so many of you killing it out here!! We are in the markets, on IG and on FB supporting you in any way we can.

On our last Co-Founder meet up to discuss how we can support you better, we created something special each. Can you guess which creation is who's??? 🙃

On this Indigenous People’s Day, Coffee + Creatives honors the creativity and resilience of our Indigenous creatives and their families.

For over five centuries, Native & Indigenous communities across the U.S. have worked on healing from a legacy of violence, displacement, and colonization. We acknowledge that the struggle is far from over, and we must center Indigenous knowledge and leadership to build an equitable future. We celebrate the ways in which Indigenous members of our community use their creativity to confront forgotten histories, amplify a collective voice, and build a liberated future.

We encourage all of our members to mark this day, support Native-owned businesses, and donate to Indigenous organizations like Native Women Lead, New Mexico Community Capital, and the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women.

FUNDING: If you or someone you know has an idea focused on advancing racial equity in PreK-12 education & is in the early stages, check out this NewSchools Venture Fund opportunity 👇🏽

"Through this new effort, we will invest up to $1.5 million in innovators of color with bold ideas to advance racial equity in education. We believe that the freedom to thrive is every person’s fundamental right, and that access to a great education, regardless of race or ethnicity, is essential to that freedom.

We believe there are brilliant solutions born from the lived experiences of people of color. This funding opportunity is exclusively focused on supporting leaders of color with bold new ideas. Additionally, given the prevalence of anti-Black racism in our society, and its impact on outcomes for Black students, we plan to allocate at least 50% of this fund to Black leaders.

Instead of a traditional grantmaking approach, the process for choosing ventures in this investment area will cede power to parents, students, and education innovators. They will decide how to allocate our Racial Equity funds through a participatory grantmaking process. Grantees will receive funding as well as management assistance, such as access to experts and a community of practice, to support the development of your idea.

We are accepting submissions through June 4, 2021 at 11:59pm PDT.

📔 A note from the C+C lead team on and Anti-racism

Over the last several weeks, we've been reflecting on the rise in hate speech and attacks across our nation...

First and foremost, we know this is a scary time for creatives and for our broader community who are Asian American & Pacific Islander. We hear you loud and clear.

We also recognize that the racism and xenophobia showing up in Atlanta, San Francisco, New York, and across our nation is connected to larger patterns of disparity and inequality, as well as hate speech, racist political rhetoric, and domestic terrorism committed by white nationalist groups.

We know this rise in hateful rhetoric, harassment, and attacks impacts Black, Latinx/Hispanic, and Indigenous communities, too.

These are things that impact the safety and well-being of ALL creatives, and the answers aren’t always easy but we believe it always starts with practice.

Practice listening, practice showing up, practice standing beside, and practice being in the way where needed.

One thing we know for sure is that statements of support aren’t enough and invisibility and silence aren't the answer. They are what keep us apart and keep us from hearing and understanding each other...

Delaina Ashley Yun, Paul Andre Michels, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng, Soon Chung Park, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, and Yong Ae Yue deserve to be heard.

We stand with their families and we stand with our own AAPI community here in New Mexico.

While our operating revenue is limited as we move from mostly volunteer to more defined organization, we’ve donated $400 to the New Mexico Asian Family Center and encourage you to make a donation if you can.

Lily Zhang, a noted Diversity, Equity & Inclusion consultant, author, and executive coach who has written for Harvard Business Review, Quartz at Work, and HR Executive, recently hosted a webinar and afterwards shared a clear and actionable list of steps that individuals, workplace leaders, and employers can take.
