On the Sunday after ABQ Pride, we provided our color guard for the Albuquerque Isotopes Baseball game during the National Anthem. If you notice, the Pride flag is upside down indicating that the LGBTQ+ community national wide is under distress. All photos courtesy of the Isotopes Baseball Team.

ABQ Pride Parade and Festival was great. We provided our color guard for the parade which went up Central from Girard to San Mateo, about 2 miles. Fortunately it was a much cooler day than last year. Our truck and trailer were right behind the color guard. Central was lined with so many people on both sides. More than I have seen in a long time. The festival was well attended and we had many who came to talk to us at our booth. Oh, the City of Albuquerque had their bus there with it's new wrap showing off previous Pride parades and our group was in the graphics on both sides of the buss. Way cool!

Next up is ABQ Pride on June 9th and 10th. And then it will be the Albuquerque Isotopes Baseball game on June 11th.

We just finished with Los Ranchos Pride on June 4th. It was a great turnout and a new and wonderful venue.

It is our busy time of the year with 4 to 5 events within a month. Here we are under our canopy during the Memorial Day Ceremonies at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park.

AVER Bataan is closely following the developments related the ongoing COVID-19 virus situation. As such, we will be holding our meetings via teleconferencing so as not to put any of our members and guest in harms way. We will not hold in person meetings in both March and April. As more is known or advised by the CDC, NM Health Dept., and the City of Albuquerque, a decision will be made regarding future meetings beyond April.

This comes at a crucial time for the chapter as we have started our preparations for up to 6 Pride events starting in the beginning of June. More to come on this as well as we find out more information from those organizations.

The chapter held it's annual End of Summer Pool Party and BBQ. It was a great turnout and thanks to our great chef,. Penn, all have plenty to eat.

AVER Bataan Chapter once again provided the color guard for the parade and opening ceremonies. We also had our booth staffed by various members. It appeared that the dogs were the winners though. As usual, color was everywhere.

The House on Thursday approved an amendment to the annual defense policy bill aimed at reversing President Trump’s policy banning most transgender people from serving in the military.
