NICOA is proud to share that Executive Director Billie Tohee will be present at the 2026 Healthy Brain Summit in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Join us June 25- 26 at Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort as leaders, advocates, caregivers, and professionals come together to discuss healthy brain aging, Alzheimer's disease, caregiving, and long-term care.

Billie will present on the 25th with a focus healthy brain aging and supporting Native Elders, caregivers, and communities.

We look forward to connecting, learning, and sharing resources that strengthen the well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native Elders.

Share Your Story

The National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) is seeking American Indian/Alaska Native Elders age 55 and older with lived experience of disability to participate in a storytelling project exploring culture, community, resilience, and aging well.

Through interviews and story mapping, participants will help elevate Native voices, share lived experiences, strengthen understanding of aging and disability in Tribal communities.

You may be eligible if you:
- Are age 55 or older
- Are an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe
- Live with a disability or health condition that affects daily life, mobility, communication, or particiaption in community activities

Selected stories may inform educational resources, increase awareness, and support future generations while honoring the knowledge and experiences of Native Elders.

The National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) extends its heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby as he prepares to retire after decades of extraordinary leadership and service.

Throughout his ten consecutive terms as Governor, Governor Anoatubby has demonstrated a remarkable combination of vison, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of Native people. His leadership and support of Chickasaw Elders, American Indian and Alaska Native Elders, and communities throughout Indian Country have left a lasting impact.

Governor Anoatubby has also been a valued friend and supporter of NICOA over the years, and we are deeply grateful for his partnership, leadership, and advocacy on behalf of Elders.

As he begins his new chapter, the NICOA Board of Directors and Staff wish Governor Anoatubby good health, happiness, and many blessings in the golden years he has so richly earned.

Are you a passionate Digital Producer or Journalist with a vision for impactful storytelling? The National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA) is looking for someone to lead our new "Story Mapping" initiative.

Help us amplify the voices of AI/AN elders and create a "place of power" through immersive, interactive visual media.

Project Overview:
Role: Lead Digital Producer/Journalist.
Location: Albuquerque Area (In-person + fieldwork required).
Duration: Grant funded, project ends October 2026.
