AHS has officially turned a grant-funded idea into a thriving student-run screenprinting enterprise. From mastering production and traditional printmaking to handling customer service and business operations for paying clients, these talented students are discovering how creativity turns into a career pathway. 💼✨

Plus, thanks to grant funding, the school darkroom has been transformed into a flexible creative hub for photography, printing, and endless artistic experimentation. 📸🌿

APS is incredibly grateful to retired educator Richard Van Dongen for establishing the Van Dongen Books Kids Want to Read Fund with a $100,000 donation through the APS Education Foundation, honoring the legacy of his late wife, Barbara Chamberlin Van Dongen, a former APS teacher, librarian and leader of District Library Services.

Their lifelong commitment to education will help put more engaging, relevant and student-requested books on library shelves across APS, inspiring a love of reading for generations to come.

Wow, what an incredible kickoff! ⚾📚✨

We are still smiling after yesterday’s APS Summer Storytime in the Park Kickoff Event! The afternoon was a massive success, and we were absolutely thrilled to welcome over 200 families to the ballpark to celebrate summer literacy with us!

An event of this scale truly takes a village, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible community partners who stepped up to support our youth:

* 🏟️ Albuquerque Isotopes: A huge thank you for hosting us and allowing us to use your phenomenal ballpark to gather our community!
* 🥤 Pepsi: Thank you for providing the beverages and keeping all of our families refreshed in the summer sun!

Students at Ernie Pyle Middle School completely transformed their campus by rolling up their sleeves and building a brand-new school garden! 🌿🍅

This amazing new space features:

A traditional heritage garden 🌻

A native pollinator plant area 🦋

A fresh fruit and vegetable garden 🥕

A peaceful “Zen Bench” space designed to support social-emotional learning and self-regulation.
