Tell ME SOMETHING GOOD!

Maxwell Junior Natalee Atler Earns Top Indoor Exhibit
Honors at the 2026 Colfax County Fair
SPRINGER, N.M. — Natalee Atler, a junior at Maxwell High School, showcased her talent,
creativity, and dedication at the 2026 Colfax County Fair, earning top honors in both the indoor
exhibits and livestock competitions.
Atler entered 16 indoor exhibits, with projects in crochet, cake decorating, leatherwork, and
photography. Her entries reflected countless hours of practice and craftsmanship across a
variety of disciplines.
Of her 16 exhibits, 12 received blue ribbons, qualifying those projects to advance to the New
Mexico State Fair, where they will represent Colfax County in statewide competition.
Her outstanding indoor exhibit performance earned Atler the prestigious High Point Indoor
Exhibitor Buckle, awarded to the participant who accumulates the most points in the indoor
exhibit division. The buckle recognizes consistent excellence across multiple project areas and is
one of the highest honors presented in the indoor exhibits competition.
In addition to her indoor accomplishments, Atler also competed in the livestock shows with two
market goats and one market steer. Her goats placed 2nd and 5th in their respective classes,
while her steer earned a 4th-place finish. Her success in both livestock and indoor events
demonstrates her well-rounded commitment to the Colfax County Fair and the many skills
developed through youth agricultural programs.
The Colfax County Fair provides youth with opportunities to develop valuable life skills through
livestock projects and creative exhibits that promote responsibility, leadership, and
craftsmanship. Advancing to the New Mexico State Fair is a significant accomplishment, as only
the highest-rated indoor exhibits qualify for state competition.
As she prepares to compete at the state level, Atler continues to represent Maxwell High
School and Colfax County with pride. Her accomplishments reflect months of dedication,
perseverance, and hard work, and her success serves as an inspiration to other young
exhibitors.
Family, friends, and members of the community congratulate Natalee on her outstanding
accomplishments and wish her continued success at the New Mexico State Fair.

Socorro Consolidated Schools Launches the School Year United and Ready to Serve Students

SOCORRO, NM — Socorro Consolidated Schools began the new school year with energy, enthusiasm, and a clear focus on student success as educators from across the district gathered for three days of high-quality professional learning centered on the theme “One District, One Team.”

The week opened with a spirited district-wide Convocation and Spirit Contest, bringing together nearly every employee under one roof to celebrate the beginning of a new school year and reinforce the shared commitment to serving students throughout the district.

Professional learning sessions throughout the week equipped teachers, administrators, and support staff with practical strategies and instructional tools designed to strengthen student achievement and enhance classroom success. Training topics included:

Capturing Kids’ Hearts

Interventions to Reduce Severe Behaviors (CES)

Special Education and IEP Compliance

High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) implementation in mathematics, supported by Kiddom, Carnegie Learning, and Compass Learning

High-Quality Instruction Planning using Socorro Consolidated Schools’ district-developed instructional protocol

Presenters consistently praised Socorro educators for their professionalism, engagement, and willingness to learn. Several participants described the Special Education and IEP Compliance sessions as among the best professional learning experiences they have attended in their careers.

Superintendent Joyce Gormley said the enthusiasm displayed throughout the week reflects the culture the district is building.

“Our theme this year is ‘One District, One Team,’ and our educators are already demonstrating exactly what that means,” Gormley said. “The dedication, collaboration, and commitment shown during these three days of learning give me great confidence that we are prepared to provide an outstanding educational experience for every student.”

As students return to classrooms, Socorro Consolidated Schools enters the new academic year with a unified staff, a shared vision, and a renewed commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. By investing in high-quality professional development before the
