Three Sisters Kitchen

Three Sisters Kitchen TSK celebrates & strengthens our city, one plate - and one new food business - at a time.

As a non-profit food education center, we use the power + love of local food to create economic opportunity, improve community health, and bring people together. Food nourishes us, connects us to our traditions and cultures, and creates jobs and economic opportunity in our communities. But limited access to fresh, healthy food, kitchen space, and entrepreneurial support has narrowed opportunities

to engage in local food and food systems. At Three Sisters Kitchen we believe that good food, health, and economic opportunity are for everyone. That is why we started our community food space, including an Incubator/Test Kitchen, Community Classroom, and Local Foods Shop. Three Sisters Kitchen makes fresh, local food accessible, affordable, and fun to cook, and creates pathways for food entrepreneurs to experiment and build businesses that succeed, contributing to a healthier and more vibrant Albuquerque.

We had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with , NM Commission for the Blind, and UCSC Computer Vision Lab researcher Michelle to learn about braille, swell form tactile graphics, and printing for blind and low vision folks. Feeling inspired about how to use these amazing tools in different programs of our local food work!

Alt text: This reel shows a crew of 12-15 folks sitting in a meeting room at Explora. They are learning how to read braille and using braille typewriters to type their name. In the video, Michelle Quach presents on her work at the UCSC Computer Vision Lab and demonstrates how a printer can create a tactile version of a graphic image of the brain.
