Today, Silver Horizons helps struggling, low-income VETERANS (All Ages), SENIORS (50+), plus CHILDREN and OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS (Living in the Home) with life's basics. Most of the seniors we help live on about $700 a month! The mission of Silver Horizons is to provide critical help to extremely low-income and in-crisis seniors in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Santa Fe, and Valencia Counties, with the visi
on of helping older adults live safely, and in reasonable comfort, in their own homes for as long as possible. History—
Originally known as The Senior Foundation, our organization was founded in 1979. Initially established to provide health care screenings, The Senior Foundation’s purpose soon changed when the greatest needs became clear among extremely low-income and frail elderly. After a short time, The Senior Foundation became Silver Horizons and expanded its services to seniors. For the last 35 years, our focus has been on filling the gaps where government funding does not meet the need. Our senior clients need help with critical basic needs. Unfortunately, most indicators point to an increasing need as our population continues to age and the number of low-income seniors grows. Today, with the help of volunteers, our organization is ready to expand its program and deliver to many more needy seniors in the greater Albuquerque area. But we need you! Volunteer Needs—
