May is about to be hot because this featured poet is fire 🔥

Your very own New Mexico Poet Laureate will be in the building, bringing so much Cultura, Magic and Energy in the form of Poetry.

About your feature: Celebrated poet and cultural advocate Manuel González has been named the third New Mexico State Poet Laureate, a recognition that affirms his profound contributions to the literary arts and his enduring impact on New Mexico’s communities. Appointed by New Mexico Arts and the New Mexico State Library, divisions of the Department of Cultural Affairs, González will begin his three-year term effective immediately. González’s appointment marks the continuation of a powerful legacy rooted in poetry as a vehicle for healing, empowerment, and cultural memory. A former Albuquerque Poet Laureate (2016–2018), González is widely respected not only for his artistry on the page and stage, but also for his unwavering commitment to community and justice.

Welcoming back to his hometown! A Burqueño in Oakland and visionary force in hip hop, Po3 combines the grit of a “Soul Gangster” with the polish of an industry veteran.

Also featuring .3mc -She’s a champion battle emcee who has shared stages with legends like Rakim and The Pharcyde. She is reviving the narrative and bringing that matriarchal power to the mic.

And last but certainly not least, he is an award-winning lyricist carving out his own lane from DinĂŠtah to the world. Make some noise for the one and only

WE GOT GENTE ROLLING FROM THE 303!
Don’t miss this month’s HIGHLIGHT!

Los Mocochetes are a Xicano Funk band out of Denver Colorado, with deep roots from the Mora Valley in northern Nuevo Mexico and to the south from Juarez, MX. By combining elements of cumbia, reggae, hip-hop, rock, funk, and more, Los Mocochetes composes music to unite the gente and create revolutionary music you can dance to.

The word Mocochete is a term coined by the group to mean “mocosos con machetes”. In life, most mocosos (snot-nosed “brats”) develop physically to the point where they are strong enough to wield a tool or weapon, such as a machete. How you use that tool has lasting consequences and defines the mark you leave on the world with great potential for both creation and destruction. This duality exists in all of us.

The Poet!
Jose “Jozer” Guerrero is a poet, musician, actor, MC/Motivational speaker and educator. His work has been featured on HBO, Univision, PBS, American Theater Magazine, Button Poetry, and TedTalks. Guerrero is also a three-time Individual World Poetry Slam finalist, 2 time Brave New Voices Finalist, and 2 time National Poetry Finalist. He is a member of Award-Winning Chicano Funk band Los Mocochetes and Denver’s Premier Slam Poetry team Slam Nuba. has dedicated his entire career to creating critical art and music that speaks on the issue our communities face, seeking to inspire, inform and mobilize the community, with edgy lyrics, mesmerizing beats, and a powerful performance.

The incredible Burque Sol will be in the house! They’ve been holding down the 505 with their incredible reggae sound mixed with all that Burque flare!!!

And the poets!! Omg the poets!

Your ABQ Poet Laureate, Damien Flores will be featuring! One of Burque’s truest, Flores brings his talent and storytelling to our mic! Flores has competed and featured on multiple final stages for national slam poetry events across the country.

Indigenous and Q***r Poeta, Eva Crespin, a Brave New Voices Finalist, Group Piece Champion and multi semi finalist for national slam competitions will also be throwing down poems!

Your host with the most, 2X ABQ WOWPS Champ Mercedez Holtry is switching hats and going poet mode for this special night! It’s her bday month and she wants nothing more than to celebrate by spitting poems and vibing to music with her amazing friends!
