Greetings Outlands!
As Grand Outlandish draws ever closer, we have some details and a call for volunteers.
There are 3 more clean-up dates from 10AM-3:00PM:
• This Saturday April 25
• Sunday May 3
• Saturday May 9
Address is: 69 Doc Holiday Rd. Edgewood, 87015
Please be aware if you use the Google AI version of maps it will take you to the wrong spot. Apple maps should be fine as well as regular Google maps. Look for the SCA signs. Please do not come out after 2:00 as we will start working in the morning and may end early. We are keeping track of what households come out to work and these groups are getting priority land allocation. Bring shovels, rakes, hoes, wheelbarrow if you have it and work gloves.
**If you live nearby, please plan to come out to help. We will have snacks and water.
We are still in need of a facilities coordinator. Thank you to everyone that has already stepped up to fill these positions.
Volunteers
We are in desperate need of volunteers in all areas: gate, facilities, parking, set-up, clean-up, and security.
***While many of these shifts can be volunteered for in the moment or the day of, we must have Paypal gate volunteers ASAP. We need to turn in the names within the next week so they can be trained ahead of time. If we do not get enough volunteers, we may need to cancel CC payment at gate, leaving cash or check as your only option unless you pre-register. It is not fair to have a handful of volunteers sit at gate the entire event and I am not willing to ask that of these individuals. It is an easy 1-hour training in the 2 weeks leading up to the event. However, you must get this training ahead of time. So far, most of the volunteers are already doing so many other jobs at Outlandish and I feel it is not fair to ask even more of them. So please, contact me if you can help. [email protected]
These events do not happen on their own and it requires a lot of volunteer hours. If everyone stepped up for a shift or two, it would not burden others with working all day at an event they also want to enjoy.
With that said, we will be offering raffle tickets if you pick up a shift. Each shift will earn you one raffle ticket. Prizes are yet to be determined but one will be made to order trim. You will want in on this raffle!
Please be on the lookout for more details about what type of vehicles and trailers are safe to bring (the road is a switchback in places and has tight curves), the schedule, and details about the camp crawl.
Again, thank you to all who have stepped up, offered advice, and continued patience.
