Our hearts go out to CenCom our New Mexico State Police Dispatch center in Albuquerque.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of New Mexico State Police Dispatcher Philip Riley.

Philip joined the New Mexico Department of Public Safety in 2020 and served at the CenComm Center, where he was a valued colleague and dedicated member of our NMSP/NMDPS family.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Philip’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts.

A huge thank you to the 58th Special Operations Wing for briefing New Mexico Search and Rescue on their rescue and medical capabilities and how they can be applied during civilian missions when deemed critical. Better understanding of logistics, capability of rotary aircraft and meeting the people behind the hard work enables NMSAR teams to better operate during missions. NMSAR can’t thank our military partners enough for keeping both service members and civilians safe.

Another successful mission.

A distressed hiker was hot, out of water, and had a phone that was almost dead. Fortunately, they had the good sense to call for help and send us their coordinates before their cell phone died.

The location was on the trail leading toward the Narrows. Our drone team was able to confirm the hiker’s location. Working together with OMTRS and MVSAR, members of our team reached the subject, provided water, and helped them safely off the mountain.

Great teamwork and a good outcome.
