It's a win for wildlife and for New Mexico sportsmen, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. The NM Court of Appeals has ruled against landowners who argued that state elk management practices amounted to a governmental taking of private property.

The landowners maintained the state's handling of elk populations spurred an "unconstitutional taking of their properties."

Fellow New Mexicans, our water situation is dire. Everyone needs to take this seriously and start making some changes to ensure the conservation of this vital resource.

“But what can I do? I’m only one person.” - said 8 billion people

Change is hard. Nobody likes change. Putting an end to activities like watering lawns, taking long showers, unnecessarily flushing toilets, leaving the water running while brushing our teeth and countless other habits we’ve long taken for granted is one way to make a difference. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there. You do the most important work on the planet. A couple years ago I was hunting elk in the Gila with a couple nonresidents. While perched up on a glassing point we spotted this female mountain lion with two subadult kittens. This mountain lion mom clearly did an amazing job raising these two kittens. To all you mom’s raising little ones, thank you and enjoy your special day!! -Jesse Deubel, NMWF executive director
