As industry partners, we will be joining them in addressing ways for Latinas and all women to actively close the gap in salary, capital access, and financial net worth here in the state of New Mexico.

Did you know that New Mexico’s maternal mortality rate for women over 35 is more than double the national average?

According to New Mexico’s Maternal Mortality Review Committee’s 2023 Annual Report, there were 48 deaths per 1,000 live births. This is a considered a maternal health crisis. At our Women’s Health Summit, you’ll hear from subject matter experts about this this problem and possible solutions.

Don't miss the next Equity in Justice CLE: Voices of Native Women Attorneys on May 6 from noon to 1:30 p.m. MST. More info and register here: www.sbnm.org/EIJ

Native women attorneys who practice in New Mexico and a UNM law student will provide their insight as to what drove them to go into law, their struggles and triumphs, and their goals for the future. This multi-generational panel of women will discuss how they came to be attorneys, what some of the greatest hurdles were, and their advice for fellow Native attorneys and law students. The focus of this presentation is on Native women attorneys who have significant connections to Indian country and how these experiences inform their lives and careers.

Moderated by: Josett Monette, New Mexico Legal Aid.

Today I signed an Executive Order to protect the reproductive rights of women in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's extreme decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

It formalizes the actions I announced right after the decision and will add new measures to protect women's health.
