Dozens of educators, retirees, and activists kicked off this weekend at the "Educators for Deb" canvass launch, hosted by AFT NM and our sibling union, National Education Association of New Mexico. Volunteers heard from Deb about her plans for education and then set out to knock on hundreds of doors to remind voters to get to the polls. Thank you, Deb, for your vision and support of educators and their unions!

Take a moment to sign this petition to support our fellow union member Dr. Bilgesu Sümer, a professor at New Mexico Highlands University. NMHU has offered employment for another academic term, however are unwilling to help Dr. Sümer renew his H1B visa to allow him to continue teaching in the United States. This action directly jeopardizes Dr. Sümer's ability to continue teaching and residing in New Mexico. We are asking NMHU to reverse this thoughtless decision and fully support this hardworking NMHU faculty member.
