Common Cause New Mexico

Common Cause New Mexico CCNM works for good, transparent government in New Mexico because of supporters like you – we are the lobby for the people, by the people!

https://linktr.ee/commoncausenm Common Cause New Mexico is the leading force for common-sense reforms to improve the way government works in New Mexico. We have been on the front lines of numerous hard fought battles for voting rights and government accountability. In the past decades, we have been instrumental in the implementation of key state and municipal reform measures, including creation of

the State Ethics Commission, voluntary public financing of campaigns for citywide races in Albuquerque and Santa Fe and campaigns for statewide judicial races. We worked to pass automatic and same-day voter registration, in addition to running our Election Protection program to combat voter suppression and intimidation. We’ve helped enact ranked choice voting for Santa Fe and Las Cruces. We've also succeeded in pushing for online campaign finance reporting, the Lobbyist Regulation Act, the Campaign Reporting Act and the Open Meetings Act.

We're not going to stop talking about RCV here at Common Cause, and we know you aren't either.

It may have taken the three weeks to publish Molly's OpEd about our City Council voting down instant run-offs, and their delay just helps us continue the conversation.

The link to the OpEd is in our bio - go check it out! 📰

HERE WE GO! It's time to sign up for our 2026 Election Protection Program.

Help us help voters across the state - answer questions, monitor polling locations for issues, partner with election workers to ensure eligible voters can cast their ballot without any issues.

Link to volunteer is in our bio! ✊

We're disappointed in the Albuquerque City Council for once again ignoring months worth of calls, letters, and testimony from community members and killing ranked choice voting tonight.

Ranked choice voting and instant run offs could have saved our city millions of dollars - dollars that could go back into the community where we need it most. Schools. Community centers. Libraries. Roads. But no, these Councilors chose to listen to political elites and the powerful instead of their constituents.

Common Cause NM & our partners will continue fighting for fiscal responsibility and ensuring access to elections is equitable for all who want to participate - not just those who pay to play.

We're not done in this fight - visit our website, join us today, and let's work together to strengthen our democracy together.

A new article from the Santa Fe New Mexican highlights the importance of reaching independent voters ahead of New Mexico’s first semi-open primary.

We’re taking that call to action seriously.

We’ll be hosting community conversations across the state to explain how semi-open primaries work, answer questions, and help voters participate with confidence.

Swipe and watch the video to learn more.
Together we can make this transition clear, accessible, and empowering for every voter.

What. A. Day.

Our team was so busy talking to folks about how to get involved & take action here in ABQ, they barely got any photos!

It was an incredible honor to be in community with thousands of people who care about democracy and our country's future.

Thank you, Albuquerque!
