Haris went to his regularly scheduled Immigration office appointment, knowing he had followed all the rules and had an appeal pending.

As long as we allow those in power to divide us according to gender, color, age, ability, s*x, ethnicity, orientation or culture, we are allowing disempowerment of *all* of us.

We must find a way to reach out and join together. Unfortunately, for every step forward we seem to take giant leaps back.....

We are in mourning for Friends and LGBTQ Latinx Family, lost in a senseless hate crime in Orlando, FL.

We are angry that political pundits have chosen to scapegoat marginalized communities, instead of acknowledging the actual problems.

We are furious that legislation passed in some states has given tacit approval for the Sunday morning massacre, the second most deadly shooting on American soil, after Wounded Knee.

When people don't speak up and speak out against discrimination, at any level, the people who stay silent are agreeing. They are giving their permission.

Silence *is* violence.

The next threat you hear targeting Muslims, speak out.

Islam didn't pull the trigger, a man who had been taught it's acceptable and expected to hate gay people pulled the trigger.

The next time you hear a r**e joke, speak out.

If you don't speak out against ableist, s*xist, racist language, who will?

Allies, if you haven't already called /asked everyone you know in our community how they are doing, please do so now.

Reach out and offer the same support you would give if you knew they had just lost a family member.
