Viva New Mexico Rural Animal Rescue

Viva New Mexico Rural Animal Rescue We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal rescue specializing in rescuing homeless pets from the rural shelters of New Mexico. We do not take owner surrenders.

Striving to save animals at risk for euthanasia in rural New Mexico shelters. Viva New Mexico Rural Animal Rescue is a small but ever growing network of volunteers that are dedicated to saving animals from rural New Mexico shelters. We believe that every pet deserves a second or third chance at a life with a family. We want the public to know the importance of having your pets spayed or neutered a

s hundreds of KITTENS AND PUPPIES, and thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters every year. We promote spay and neuter initiatives, education, and responsible pet ownership. We know the shelters are limited in kennel space, so we help to assist with other rescues who sponsor shelter pets in and out of state by pulling and temporary foster until transport can be arranged to these rescues. This opens kennel space so that fewer animals are euthanized and prevents the death of animals who have rescues wanting to help.

Rest easy, Henry 🫶🏻

Today we received a lovely tribute donation in memory of Henry. Heather lost her Henry recently and her friend wanted to honor their special love with a donation to Viva to help more pups. Here’s to Henry and his Heather.

“In happy memory, of Henry, our long time friend, Heather’s tail wagging buddy. He was a gentle soul who took great care of his Heather through good and bad. Henry was a rescue from Tulsa, Oklahoma who found his forever home with his darling Heather, where he found all the love a pup could want. Henry’s best times were being with his pal Heather, so we would like to donate in Henry’s name to Viva in hopes that other pups can have the chance Henry did finding their Heather.”

Viva Fam, this is Valentine.

She was surrendered to the Valencia County shelter toward the end of last month with her sister. Their owner died.

Sadly, Valentine’s sister couldn’t handle the shelter environment and took her stress and fear out on Val. The sister was euthanized. Please do not comment here bashing the shelter about this decision. These types of situations are awful for everyone involved, and this post is not about that.

This post is about Valentine. She is safe at Daisy Farm Sanctuary and has been for a bit over a week now. She’s still scared, but she’s doing ok.

Yesterday, she saw the vet and while her bites are healing well, they found mammary growths. A lot of them.

She’ll need surgery for them, and that means $. If you’d like to pitch in towards that, you can do so here: https://paypal.me/vivarescue?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US No Paypal account is needed.
