Here are the hikes we have planned during the Horned Lizard BioBlitz. I’m willing to do another on Saturday the 27th, any suggestions on places within a couple hours of Albuquerque you’d like to go? Also, would anyone be interested in an evening hike during the week in the Albuquerque area?

Dressed to impress!

It’s mating season for our bleached earless lizards (Holbrookia maculata ruthveni) here at White Sands National Park! During this season, the lizards can gain slight, orange coloration that signals if they are receptive to advances. Experiments have shown that males can identify different colorations and will display to those females who would be most responsive to their attention.
