The Musicians Association of Albuquerque, AFM Local 618
Originally founded as The Musicians’ Protective Union on July 23, 1915, the Musicians Association of Albuquerque, Local 618 of the 80,000+ member strong American Federation of Musicians has been serving New Mexico area musicians for over 100 years! Local 618 members are symphony, jazz, rock, R&B, country and Latin musicians. We’re freelancers, teachers, theater musicians, and solo artists. You’ll see us performing at all the New Mexico Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony and Santa Fe Opera concerts, performing in local hotels and restaurants, bringing audiences to their feet at Popejoy Hall, the Lensic Theater, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater, the Outpost Performance Space, the African American Performing Arts Center, Old Town Albuquerque and more. Our musical community is vibrant, with an active working membership, and our Local continues to be an effective advocate for musicians’ rights in the workplace (be that a nightclub, a symphony stage, in a recording studio, or on tour). We warmly welcome new members!
