Seasons come and seasons will go.

Some years we may take special notice of the blossoming buds on the cherry trees, others we may take note of the bite of an early autumn wind, and other years the transition is not really noticed; we just suddenly find ourselves in the throes of summer.

Over the years, we have likened changes here at Food is Free Albuquerque to the seasons, too. We’ve gone through so many changes and seasons with you. There have been so many beautiful and sunny days we’ve spent with some of the kindest people we have had the honor of knowing. We’ve done hard things right alongside you. You have held us so well through these seasons. For that, we can never repay and want to extend our biggest of gratitudes.

We are currently entering a season that will be difficult to walk through with our heads held high. However, in tree stewardship, sometimes difficult decisions must be made for the overall health of the trees. After much deliberation, consideration, and reconsideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. We know the work we have done with you has been meaningful, impactful, and important. We also know something will grow from this decision; we just don’t know exactly what yet.

With that in mind, “Before we go, we’d like to plant a garden”; without further ado, we’d like to also announce our 10th and final Seed Share. We’ve never been the type to leave a room quietly; we’d like to invite you to this very special event. Our hope in hosting this beloved community gathering is to bring together our community to share our love of sharing seeds and resources, and to say a very heartfelt “See ya later!”

Please plan to join us at our 10th Final Seed Share on April 11th at Green Jeans Food Hall, 12-3, with a Farewell Party from 4-7. All proceeds raised will go directly to support our partners at Rio Grande Food Project to support the important work they do to ensure our community has continued access to food. There are still many details to be worked out, so make sure you stay tuned as they come together into each beautiful piece that makes this event happen!

Today we got a call from the Agri-Cultura Networkthat they had produce to share!

Our team of shuckers jumped on it!

Over 700 pounds of fruits and vegetable shared with bridge Storehouse and community members ❤️🥹
