Yesterday, Del Norte Foundation President Carol Rickert presented the 2026 Del Norte Foundation Grant Awards to an outstanding group of nonprofits that are improving lives across New Mexico every day.

This year's recipients include:

• Camp Enchantment — outdoor camp experiences for children with cancer
• Rio Grande Food Bank — fighting hunger across New Mexico
• Christina Kent Early Childhood Center — early childhood education and family support
• Adult Learning Center — literacy and adult education services
• National Dance Institute — arts education for young people
• Backpack Program — weekend meals for food-insecure children
• Crossroads for Women — housing and recovery support for women
• Life Transition — helping individuals overcome homelessness
• Meals on Wheels — meal delivery for homebound seniors
• Rock at Noonday — mentoring and opportunities for youth
• Children's Grief Center — grief support for children and families
• Locker 505 — free clothing for youth in need

Together, these organizations are feeding families, supporting children, strengthening education, promoting recovery, helping individuals regain stability, and creating brighter futures throughout our communities here in Albuquerque.

What makes these grants especially meaningful is the rigorous review process behind them. Organizations are evaluated for mission effectiveness, financial stewardship, leadership, accountability, and measurable community impact. Receiving a Del Norte Foundation grant reflects a high standard of organizational excellence and gives donors confidence that their contributions are supporting nonprofits that are delivering real results.

We are grateful to our Foundation Board, club members, donors, and community partners whose generosity makes these grants possible. Through Rotary's commitment to "Service Above Self," we are proud to invest in organizations that are creating lasting, measurable change across New Mexico.

Congratulations to all of this year's recipients—we look forward to seeing the impact of your work in the year ahead.

“Service Above Self” is only half of what being a Rotarian is about. The other half is friendships, meaningful conversations, shared values, and celebrating people working to make our communities stronger.

This past Tuesday, our club hosted a pop-up social at the Volaré rooftop bar, welcoming those curious about Rotary alongside the graduating Leadership Albuquerque Class of ’26 to connect, mingle, and learn more about the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte and the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Leadership Albuquerque, led by the Albuquerque Chamber, is an eight-month program that brings together emerging leaders across industries to learn from civic, business, nonprofit, and public-sector leaders about the opportunities, challenges, and decisions shaping the future of our city and state.

Thank you to everyone who came out to build community, inspire future leaders, and help cultivate the next generation of Rotarians.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 27th, at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown for an inspiring Rotary luncheon featuring our guest speaker, Miles Gloetzner, Founder of Inhora and a compassionate leader helping redefine end-of-life care in New Mexico.

Doors open at the Sheraton Uptown at 11:30 AM, with the program beginning promptly at 11:55 AM and concluding at 1:00 PM.

Miles’s passion for service was shaped early in life by parents who modeled compassion through fostering and adopting children, a vibrant faith, and generosity toward those in need. He began his healthcare career as an EMT Basic before joining the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center, where he served for more than 11 years in a variety of impactful roles—from MED-SURG nursing support and street outreach for unhoused Veterans to frontline COVID response efforts, including drive-thru symptom checks and vaccinations.

Though he never expected to leave a deeply meaningful nursing career, Miles felt called to something greater. After more than a year of organizing and planning, he launched Inhora, New Mexico’s only social model hospice home through the Omega Home Network. Since opening its doors in April 2025, Inhora has already cared for more than 70 New Mexicans, providing dignity, compassion, and community-centered support during life’s final chapter. In recognition of its impact, Inhora was selected to host the national Omega Home Conference this June—an extraordinary honor among more than 50 hospice homes nationwide.

Miles credits much of this mission to the unwavering support of his high school sweetheart and wife of 18 years, Savanna, and their six children.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Members and friends gathered on Wednesday at Rotary Park for lunch, camaraderie, reflection, and fellowship.

Rotary Park holds a special place in Albuquerque Rotary history. Dedicated in 1991 by Rotary District 5520, the park was created as a living tribute to fellow Rotarians who dedicated their lives to the principle of “Service Above Self.” Many of the trees planted throughout the park stand in memory of individuals whose leadership, generosity, and commitment helped strengthen our communities for generations.

It’s a reminder that Rotary has always been about more than meetings — it’s about friendship, service, mentorship, and leaving a positive impact on the people around us.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for good conversation, shared stories, and a chance to reflect on the enduring legacy of service that continues to inspire our club today.

This Wednesday, May 13th at 11:30 AM, we’ll gather at Rotary Park for lunch, camaraderie, and reflection.

Rotary Park was dedicated in 1991 by Rotary District 5520, with trees planted in memory of fellow Rotarians who spent their lives living the principle of “Service Above Self.” It’s a fitting place to come together — not only to connect as friends and professionals, but to honor the legacy of those who helped build stronger communities through compassion, leadership, and service.

We hope you’ll join us for good conversation, fellowship, and a moment to remember the enduring impact one life of service can make.

This Wednesday, April 29th, we’re hosting a satellite gathering for the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte.

Our guest speaker is Trey Smith, Executive Director of East Mountain High School, one of the top-performing public charter high schools in New Mexico.

Trey has spent nearly two decades in education, building a model that consistently delivers strong outcomes. Under his leadership, East Mountain has grown into a high-performing school and is now expanding, including plans to launch a middle school by Fall 2026.

He’ll be sharing his perspective on the challenges facing education in New Mexico, where expectations and results often don’t align, along with a candid look at what is actually working. That includes building a culture of accountability, setting higher expectations, and creating programs that prepare students for life beyond the classroom, such as their nationally recognized speech and debate program.

If you care about the future of education in New Mexico, this is worth attending.

The gathering will be held at the Padilla home. Guests can arrive as early as 5:30pm, and the conversations will begin at 6:00pm.
