We’re wrapping up our Meet the Chefs series with a big welcome to Chef Steve Riley, owner and chef of Mesa Provisions in Nob Hill!
Chef Riley is a two-time James Beard Award nominee known for his playful, creative take on Southwest-inspired cuisine. We are so excited and incredibly grateful to have him joining us for SFI’s 2026 Plated with Purpose Fundraiser Dinner!

Meet the Chefs of SFI’s 2026 Plated with Purpose Fundraiser Dinner!
Chef Marie Yniguez, a proud Native New Mexican who puts her own spin on traditional New Mexican flavors to create unforgettable comfort food. A beloved Albuquerque culinary artist, Chef Marie is the creative force behind SRB Sangwich Shop, serving up slow-roasted sangwiches and delicious bar food with a New Mexican twist at Marble Brewery.
For Plated with Purpose, Chef Marie will be serving Local Pork Schnitzel with potato dumplings, scratch sauerkraut & brown butter.

Meet the Chefs of SFI's 2026 Plated with Purpose Fundraiser Dinner!
Next up is Chef Erica Tai—a Taiwanese-born chef, registered dietitian, and culinary leader based in Santa Fe. As Executive Chef and General Manager of Alkemē, a nationally recognized restaurant she helped launch in 2023, Chef Erica brings a unique perspective shaped by her journey from Taiwan to Hawaii and ultimately to New Mexico.
A proud Street Food Institute alumna, Chef Erica credits many incredible mentors—including SFI's chef instructors—with helping her build her culinary career.
For Plated with Purpose, Chef Erica will be serving:
Grilled Flank Steak with Vietnamese dipping sauce, pickled chiles and rainbow carrots, drunken grapes, rau ram and mint, and a seaweed cracker.

First up is Chef Israel Rivera, chef-owner of The Shop Breakfast & Lunch. With more than 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Rivera is known for blending the vibrant flavors of New Mexico and Mexico with modern techniques, while staying true to his commitment to cooking from scratch and using authentic ingredients.
He'll kick off the evening with Lobster & Corn Aguachile featuring late-summer peaches, grilled corn, pistachio salsa macha, and a Sentli masa tortilla. We're honored to have Chef Rivera help make this an unforgettable night!

Yesterday was an exciting day as we celebrated the graduation of our latest Workforce Development cohort!
These talented individuals from Grand Summit Recovery have spent the past 12 weeks building culinary skills, confidence, and a path forward in their recovery journey. It has been an honor to watch their growth every step of the way.
This program is about so much more than food. It's about discovering a passion, developing valuable job skills, and creating opportunities for meaningful employment.
A huge thank you to SWEPT Education and Grand Summit Recovery for making this incredible partnership possible. And a very special shout-out to Chef Jon Young for being such an inspiring mentor. Your patience, encouragement, and dedication have made a lasting impact on this group.
Congratulations to our graduates! We can't wait to see what's next for each of you.
