Sunday was an exciting and unforgettable evening for SFI as we celebrated our Plated with Purpose Fundraiser Dinner!
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible evening filled with delicious food, community, and support for SFI’s mission. Your presence and generosity mean so much to us.
A huge thank you to all of our sponsors and in-kind donors who helped make the evening possible. We are also incredibly grateful to our board members, who were involved in the planning process every step of the way and helped bring this special evening to life.
And, of course, a very special thank you to all of the chefs and food entrepreneurs who created a truly memorable meal. Your talent, creativity, and passion made the evening one to remember!

We are beyond excited to announce the Grand Opening of La Tiendita de Barelas!
We’ve been working on this project for over a year, and we are thrilled to finally open its doors to the public!
La Tiendita de Barelas is more than just a neighborhood market. It’s a space that was intentionally designed with the help of the Barelas community. While the space may be small, it’s packed with fresh, healthy products. Including some amazing locally sourced items!
It’s also a place where the incredible entrepreneurs who use Barelas Community Kitchen can share and sell their products with the neighborhood.

We’re wrapping up our Meet the Chefs series with a big welcome to Chef Steve Riley, owner and chef of Mesa Provisions in Nob Hill!
Chef Riley is a two-time James Beard Award nominee known for his playful, creative take on Southwest-inspired cuisine. We are so excited and incredibly grateful to have him joining us for SFI’s 2026 Plated with Purpose Fundraiser Dinner!

Meet the Chefs of SFI’s 2026 Plated with Purpose Fundraiser Dinner!
Chef Marie Yniguez, a proud Native New Mexican who puts her own spin on traditional New Mexican flavors to create unforgettable comfort food. A beloved Albuquerque culinary artist, Chef Marie is the creative force behind SRB Sangwich Shop, serving up slow-roasted sangwiches and delicious bar food with a New Mexican twist at Marble Brewery.
For Plated with Purpose, Chef Marie will be serving Local Pork Schnitzel with potato dumplings, scratch sauerkraut & brown butter.
Tickets are sold out, but you can still join the waitlist or support SFI’s mission at www.streetfoodinstitute.org/support-us. Every contribution helps empower the next generation of food entrepreneurs!
