New Mexico Interfaith Power and Light We mobilize people of faith and conscience to reduce the causes and consequences of global climate change.

We do this through inspiring, educating, and empowering communities for effective and reflective climate action. Engaging people of faith in the moral concern of climate change and in the movement to a sustainable future in New Mexico. Our activities and campaigns include:
* Educational programs, resources, films and events
*Engage in energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable lifestyles
*Enlist people of faith in public policy advocacy

Every year in New Mexico, as rivers run dry, wildfires spark, and flash floods sweep through burn scars, Rebecca Solnit's 2009 words feel like prophecy fulfilled.

Writing after Hurricane Katrina, she warned: "We are entering an era of heightened disaster, thanks to climate change. Being prepared for disaster will mean being prepared to sift truth from rumor, and being prepared to adjust our worldview."

Seventeen years later, that's still the work: knowing what's true when disasters happen, staying open to what the data and our neighbors are telling us, and updating what we thought we knew.

Fall Annual Gathering Event - The River Lives In Us

As rivers run dry and Earth cries tears of present and impending loss, how do we carry forward our calling to care for the creation which cares for us? Join us on the (almost) full moon for evening of ritual, song, gratitude and lament. We will prayerfully walk a labyrinth, share a meal, honor amazing earth protectors, and share about New Mexico Interfaith Power & Light's work and growth over the last year.

Save the date! Be a part of our new webinar series: Big Tech Unchecked? We invite you to our data center webinar series, starting with a focus on water use!

Big Tech Unchecked is a collaborative effort between several community-based organizations committed to uplifting the voices of New Mexicans’ who are standing on the frontlines in the fight for their right to transparency and accountability in hypserscale data center development.

This webinar will bring together community leaders from Sembrando Esperanza and Fight Chihuahuan Desert Extraction as well as water and legal experts from University of Texas El Paso and the New Mexico Environmental Law Center. Join us as we explore:
• What is a large-scale A.I. data center? What makes them different from other data centers?
• What is the state of water in this region? How will data center development contribute to water scarcity?
• What are the major water concerns at Meta (in El Paso Texas) and Fort Bliss?
What are the major water concerns at Project Jupiter (Santa Teresa, New Mexico)?
• How can we get involved in the struggle to resist these projects that impact us across borders?

During this Season of Creation, we are reminded that caring for creation isn't separate from caring for our neighbors. It is the same calling.

As the climate crisis accelerates, faith communities have a unique role: to lead with courage, compassion, and resilience. Project HOW is rooted in that moral urgency. When a congregation chooses renewable energy, it reduces emissions, helps protect children and elders from pollution-related illness, and demonstrates that belief and action belong together.

Each congregation can choose its own pathway to renewable energy and resilience, based on its priorities and resources. Start with a free energy audit, or focus first on efficiency upgrades, electrification, solar, or battery storage. Pursue all of them in any order, or take a single step. There is no wrong place to begin.

On Wednesday communities will rally at 9am in Santa Fe to protest the Trump announcement of deep rollbacks of oil and gas methane rules. EPA Administrator Zeldin will announce the rule gutting at the annual New Mexico Oil and Gas Association Meeting at the Santa Fe Convention Center. Methane rule rollbacks are just one of many harms the EPA is committing against community health and safety. Come and check out the Methane Waste Ticker Mobile Bill Board (preview) Bring friends, family, and anyone who cares about our communities, climate and air.
