🎈 What an unforgettable experience at Corrales International School!

Our students had an amazing time being part of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta celebrations—and the excitement reached new heights when a hot-air balloon took off right from our school! 🌅✨

Watching the balloon inflate and lift into the sky was a magical experience our students will remember for years to come. We’re so grateful for this wonderful opportunity to bring learning, community, and adventure together! 🎈🙌

🍎✨ TEACHER FEATURE ✨🍎

Meet Megan Chatterton, our wonderful 12th-grade teacher at Corrales! 🎓📚

Megan loves teaching smaller classes and having the opportunity to work with the same students for multiple years. This allows her to build meaningful relationships and truly get to know each student. 💛

🥋 Fun fact: Megan has a black belt in karate and a minor in Medieval Studies! 🏰

Her hope is that every student leaves her classroom remembering two important lessons: be kind and appreciate what we have. 🌟

We’re so grateful to have Megan as part of the Corrales community! 👏🍎

🍎 Meet Ms. Nara Olivas!

Ms. Olivas teaches fifth grade at Corrales and was inspired to become an educator by her late mother, whose passion for education helped her develop a lifelong love of books and learning.

One of her favorite parts of teaching at Corrales is seeing students bring their ideas to life through creative, student-driven projects displayed throughout the school. By the end of the year, she hopes every student feels confident communicating their ideas—whether through writing or speaking.

Here’s a fun fact about Ms. Olivas: Before becoming a teacher, she spent many years working in the hospitality industry, including restaurants and hotels!

We are proud to have Ms. Olivas inspiring our students to learn, create, and share their voices. 💚

What Makes IB Different? 🌍

At CIS, students learn through the International Baccalaureate framework, which encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and global understanding. It is a rigorous, student-centered approach that helps learners become thoughtful communicators, curious thinkers, and engaged citizens. 📚

¿Qué hace diferente al IB? 🌍

🍎 Meet Mr. Troy Barber, our dedicated 9th-grade teacher! Inspired by his wife’s 20-year teaching career and the experiences of his own children, he realized that there’s no better place to make a meaningful difference than in a school community. ❤

📚 What does he love most about teaching at Corrales? The students, of course! As Mr. Barber says, they keep him young and make every day rewarding.

🌎 Fun fact: Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Barber worked as a geologist. While he may not be fascinated by rocks themselves, he loves the incredible stories they tell about the Earth and its history.

💡 His biggest hope for students is that they learn an important lesson that extends far beyond the classroom: even the hardest problems can be broken down into manageable pieces.
