Meet Our Barnyard Rodent Patrol

While working around the barnyard, keep an eye out for one of our hardworking farm residents: the gopher snake! These nonvenomous snakes are valuable members of the farm ecosystem, helping keep rodent populations in check. They’re excellent pest control partners—and they don’t require a paycheck or benefits!

Gopher snakes have a pretty impressive trick when they feel threatened, they can flatten their heads, hiss loudly, vibrate their tails, and even mimic the appearance and behavior of a rattlesnake to scare off predators. Unfortunately, this clever defense can also get them into trouble. Gopher snakes are often mistaken for rattlesnakes and killed, even though they are harmless to people. So if you spot one on the farm, give it some space and let our resident rodent patrol do its job!

20 years of Lavender in the Village, and this might be the best one yet. 💜🌿

For two decades, this festival has brought our community together at Balloon Fiesta Park for a day that's equal parts market, celebration, and fundraiser.
