The cast of "MONARCH" undertook a huge important task alongside rehearsals - raising butterflies! We released them last Friday in Altura Park and despite some reluctance, all four took flight!

Thinking back to this spring when Keshet participated in the final National Water Dance! We are filled with gratitude for the work on National Water Dance over the past 15 years, and proud to have been participants and community members with this wonderful organization.

In the words of Dale & Kristin from National Water Dance, "As we close the doors to National Water Dance, we look back with joy and gratitude for everyone who has shared this project with us, as a participant, a supporter, an audience member, a curious bystander. It is you who gave it life and value, and we walk away with the satisfaction that a community was built that speaks with the force of our physical creativity for the waters and the natural world that is home to all of us. Like a raindrop in a still pond, we trust that many ripples have been generated from this one idea, and we are strengthened by knowing those ripples will continue to create more. "

(MSE) The MSE is a 10-day cohort-based residency program in which choreographers/dancemakers have access to rehearsal space, peer movement classes, arts business workshops, and the New Mexico skies as they explore their art form and their projects at whatever stage they might be – newly germinating ideas, final development of full productions, and/or anything in between.

Keshet Dance Company & Center for the Arts presents "MONARCH," an exploration of immigration, loss, transformation, longing, and ultimately hope through the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. "MONARCH" asks us to reflect on the balance of the natural world and the anxiety and fear in today’s political climate. Where is the hope? Who
do we turn to? How do we protect the most vulnerable in our community?

"MONARCH" is a full-length dance production with a cast of 65, featuring Keshet Dance Company professional dancers, KP3 (Keshet Pre-Professional Students), adult dancers, and young dancers ages 10+, choreographed by Keshet Company Dancer and Education Director Laura Orozco Garrett.

Calling all volunteers! Keshet is having a Volunteer Day on Saturday, September 26 from 9:00am to noon!

We will be outside, cleaning up the parking lot and surrounding areas. Prepare accordingly for hot weather, with clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, close-toed shoes, and a hat. Don’t forget your sunscreen! We will provide PPE as well as light refreshments.
