Please continue praying for Crystal Whitaker and family
Update from Crystal:
"In case you haven’t heard, Jeremiah and I along with Ean and Owen were in a very bad accident on Saturday night when we were hit head on by a drunk driver. It is our understanding that the other vehicles occupants did not survive. We are all pretty seriously injured, but Ean (14) is the worst. Please pray for my baby. He had lots of internal bleeding and after having surgery in the ER Saturday night and having to remove some of his small and large intestines, he was flown to Albuquerque where they have a pediatric ICU. After arriving in Albuquerque, Ean underwent another surgery where they had to remove more of his intestines and part of his colon. He is doing better, but he has lots of injuries. He also sustained a broken forearm which will probably have to be surgically repaired, 7 broken ribs, and a fracture to his spine. I just got word that they will be taking him back to surgery in the morning to work on his back. Please pray for Ean!
As for the rest of us, Jeremiah is at his parents recovering with multiple bruises and a broken and dislocated wrist, which may require surgery (we don’t know yet).
Owen is still in the hospital with a broken 1st or 2nd rib, deep bruising, a broken arm (just below his shoulder), and a small brain bleed. He is doing okay, but has quite a bit of pain and nausea.
I, like each of us, have multiple bruises and abrasions, I also have a broken right ankle, which was opened and the doctor said it is probably the worst he has seen. I had surgery last night to clean the open wound and remove several bone shards. I also have a crushed heel bone. I will require multiple surgeries and this will be a very long process, however my next surgery, to place an external plate for stabilization to the outside of my ankle (opposite of the wound, I think) should be on Tuesday or Wednesday. 7-10 days after that I will have another surgery to repair my ankle breaks. There are going to be other surgeries after that and I will be completely non weight bearing on my right ankle for quite some time. My left ankle is sore, but not real sure what is wrong with it and all (well not all, only four) of the toes on my left foot are broken. I also have an injury to my left hand, which they will X-ray later.
Please also pray for Logan. He was at work at the time, so he was not involved in the accident, but he is struggling with the stress of everything.
Fortunately we have a wonderful immediate support system and my parents, Jeremiah’s parents and our siblings and their families have gone above and beyond in the last 24 hours to help us. They have taken turns being with each of us as well as pick up our campers (which were in Vallecito) and going and getting prescriptions for Jeremiah. Also, my dad is in Albuquerque with Ean.
Please pray for our entire family, but again, especially Ean. Ean is in need of prayers the most right now.
Btw, if you have been trying to contact me, my phone was in the car and was burned up along with everything else when our car caught fire. We love you all and know that we are only here by a miracle because we have been told multiple times that after seeing pictures of the wreck it is nothing short of a miracle that anyone much less all 4 of us survived. God is good, all the time!"
