Time sure does fly. It’s bittersweet to say we wrapped up our final week of this chapter last week. While this chapter is came to a close, Brain Corps math mentors are still going strong finishing out the school year with the same dedication and impact they’ve brought everyday to Brain Corps. Get to know Taylore! Taylore is from Harbor Springs, Michigan and is double majoring in Marketing and Psychology. A fun fact about her she’s been skiing for a long time.

A highlight of her time with Brain Corps was capturing the little moments and having the opportunity to share the incredible work being done by the rest of the team.

Get to know Shanice!

Shanice is from Dallas, Texas and is majoring in Biology with a concentration in Public Policy. A fun fact about her is she’s the youngest of 10 children!

A highlight of her time with Brain Corps has been building genuine relationships with students. She loves getting to know their personalities, interests, and learning styles, creating a supportive and comfortable environment where they can grow. Those connections make it easier to motivate students and see real progress in both their academics and confidence.

Through this experience, Shanice has also grown personally and professionally. Strengthening her communication, patience, and problem-solving skills while learning how to support diverse learners in meaningful ways.

Get to know Luee!

Luee is from Hudsonville, Michigan and is majoring in BFA in Art. A fun fact is he has 17 plants in his bedroom! One highlight of his experience has been hearing and seeing the improvement in math scores at Harrington Elementary School, Marshall Public Schools!

We’re officially halfway through Chapter 4! Over the past two week AmeriCorps members have been leading BrainCorps with our students, diving into how math shows up in nature.

From counting tree rings and spotting patterns to exploring shapes and measuring growth, our students have discovered just how naturally math shows up in everyday life. Of course we have also made time for games, movement and spending as much time in the spring weather as possible.

We are taking a short break for Harrington Elementary School, Marshall Public Schools Spring Break but we will resume next week for our final two weeks of math-filled fun!
