Illinois 4-H is seeking youth members to audition to sing the National Anthem!

Selected youth must be available the morning of Thursday, August 13, and provide their own transportation to the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Applicants may also choose to audition for performance opportunities at the DuQuoin State Fair and the National Epsilon Sigma Phi Conference this October. More details are available in the application and if you need reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact the State 4-H Office.

A panel of judges will review submissions and announce the winner the following week. Youth must be a current Illinois 4-H member to apply.

Youth can submit a 30–60 second audition clip and application at go.illinois.edu/NationalAnthem through July 1.

Applications are now open for National 4-H Congress!

Join 4-H members from across the country November 27–December 1 in Atlanta, Georgia for an unforgettable experience focused on leadership, service, learning, and connection. From inspiring speakers and hands-on workshops to new friendships and meaningful service opportunities, National 4-H Congress is designed to help young people grow as leaders and make an impact in their communities.

Illinois 4-H teens ages 14–19 as of January 1, 2026, are encouraged to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Apply by July 1 at go.illinois.edu/4HCongress26.

Illinois 4-H members ages 14-18 are invited to test their livestock knowledge at the 4-H Superior Young Producer Contest during the Illinois State Fair!

Participants will put their skills to the test in areas including livestock breeds, marketing, equipment identification, quality assurance, and more. Plus, competitors have the chance to earn one of nine $1,000 scholarships!

Join us Wednesday, August 12, at the south show ring of the Junior Cattle Barn on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 6 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Today is the last day to make your entries on Fair Entry...if you don’t get it done, you don't show!

If you lease your animals or if they are not on your property to need to turn in your lease forms and or your off premise forms today and signed by all individuals involved.

If you have not taken your QAEC for first time animals showers this also has to be done today! Again if you don't complete you don't show!

For our photography project folks...if havent signed up get it done! These 2 photographers have taken time out of their busy schedules to help you! What a great opportunity!

Go get your money!

Premium Checks from 2025 4-H Shows are Ready!

Great news! We’ve received funding for the 2025 4-H show premiums, and checks will be ready for our 4-H members to pick up on Tuesday, May 26. If you participated in the 2025 4-H Food & Clothing Show, General Project Show, or any of the small animal or livestock shows, you can pick up your check at the Edwards County Extension office starting Tuesday, May 26. (As a reminder, those who showed as Cloverbuds last year are not eligible to receive premiums.)
