At 8:54 a.m. on 31 May 1928, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and his 4-man crew left Oakland, California, and successfully completed the first trans-Pacific flight to Australia. The flight was made in three stages with a total flight distance was approximately 7,400 miles and flight time of 83 hours 15 minutes.
