Alexis Ingraham has a decades-long history of documented, criminal animal abuse here in Maine. It has been almost a year and a half since we took in 14 emaciated horses (and the sweetest little heifer) from this situation. Alexis is in court this week, facing prison time for the immense suffering she has caused so many. We’re hoping that she will finally be stopped.

Here is some local media coverage from the first day of the trial yesterday.

Our Director, Daniella, was in court to testify again today about the horrible intake conditions and extensive rehabilitation of the horses from this case.

Alexis Ingraham, 41, of Burnham, is charged with four counts of cruelty to animals. Two of the counts are aggravated, stemming from the death of a horse named Shine, who Irving said suffered from an infection so severe the animal had to be euthanized.

We are looking for a candidate with experience to act as caretaker to participate in daily care at our horse rescue facility.

We are looking for someone that is well versed in shelter variables, handling horses who need extra patience, and will do so with kindness and continuity. Must be devoted to positive reinforcement, force-free handling.

We are looking for someone that is reliable, honest, has good communication skills, and cares about fostering positivity within the shelter environment for animals and people. Must embrace a different kind of "being with horses" with those of us who just want to give them good lives. ❤️
