The Albia FFA Chapter partnered with Meals from the Heartland on Wednesday, September 30th to sponsor a Hunger Fight.
7-12 students and K-12 staff spent the afternoon packaging meals. Albia FFA members served as table leaders and hunger fight managers.
1 in 6 children in Iowa experiences hunger. Thanks to Albia FFA & Meals from the Heartland, students and staff packaged over 62,000 meals! 3,000 of those meals are staying in Monroe County, while the rest will be distributed across Iowa.

The Albia FFA & FCCLA Chapters are teaming up to host Feed the Farmer on THIS Wednesday, October 7th. 👨🏻‍🌾👩🏻‍🌾
We will be set up at Smith Fertilizer & Grain and delivering to local fields from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM.

FFA is an organization that revolves around service learning. On Wednesday, our chapter will be hosting Meals From the Heartland as a service project.
7-12 grade students and district staff will spend the afternoon packaging meals. A portion of meals packaged Wednesday will be donated to the Lincoln Food Pantry. To learn more about Meals From the Heartland, watch the attached video.
Pictures, updates, and videos of our Hunger Fight to come on Wednesday! We are excited to host this. We are still accepting donations to help fund this project, as it is costly. Yesterday, the IHCC Fundamentals of Soil Science class participated in the Iowa FFA South Central District Soils Judging Competition! 🪱
Members evaluated 4 different soil pits and took a knowledge test.
As a team, they placed 11th and received a silver rating! Out of 83 individuals, Brandon was 27th, Jaylea was 28th, Kael was 45th, and Bentlie was 56th.

Fundamentals of Soil Science students traveled to Indian Hills Community College in Centerville on Thursday, September 17th. Students began the day by taking a tour of the campus. They then spoke to representatives from Iowa Corn, NRCS, Smith Fertilizer & Grain, and Helena! During lunch, they heard from a panel of IHCC graduates about their experience at the school and within the ag program. They toured the IHCC greenhouse and rounded out their day at the soil pit with NRCS agent Jason Steele to prepare for the district soil judging competition!
